    A little nervous

Hi folks just a quick message, i have been asked by the owner of our local model shop if i want to build a Trumpeter 1/16 king tiger for one of his clients, now i have agreed but iam to say a little nervous of building for someone else especially when the kit cost £225.00. I picked it up from the shop today and iam gobsmacked at the amount of detail in the kit, so any help or opinions feel free to post them. Iam also thinking of doing a step by step on this and posting the completed pics when done so again opinions please would anyone be interested in a step by step?

    thanks all

      Hey Scott,

I can see why you might be worried 'cos you're building for someone else, but if you were to build this for yourself you'd have no problems doing a first class job. Just imagine it will be going on the shelf with all your other builds and you'll do fine!

That's not a cheap kit but you are more than capable of achieving good results and I think a lot of people would be interested in a build thread.

Hi Scott,I'd love to see a step by step of something like that. I'm sure you'll make your usual cracking job of it.

            Cheers

Scott, going by the quality of the models you have been showing us on here, building this will be a breeze and an exciting one at that!

It is a true testomony to your building abilities that you have been entrusted with this project.

I for one would love to see each and every bit of the construction.

              Cheers,

              Ron

Well it will either help him or scare the living :censored2: out of him.

The big question is does the customer want it fully painted or does he want the see through version......:noyesfight:

That sure is a big box with loads of bits in.

                      I admire your courage!

Looking forward to the build progress.

I think it would grieve me to have to hand over something that has taken so much time and attention! Lol!

                      More generally speaking now.

Presumably you will be compensated for use of materials, but how on earth would you calculate how much of each has been used?

In general starting any hobby would be an expensive affair as you need everything from scalpel blades to paint and thinners. It is only after you have purchased most of the materials does each next project become cheaper. Where do you start to charge?

In one respect you are only charging for used materials. On the other hand it could be construed that you were profiteering by gaining extra tools, materials etc.

All of this is aside from the fact that you 'could' be charging for labour/time!

                      Sorry for hijacking your thread!

Nice one Scott. Does he or the shop want the left over bit back? You could well have all the bits to do a "visible" turret.....Just a thought.

Sounds like a great deal for you. You get to build a great kit, All sundries paid for. What more could one ask. Jammy git! lol

I too am sure that you will pull it off. Just take your time and Enjoy it.

Scott, I've built a few commissioned models so I understand your concerns – trying to please someone else and guessing what they'd want on a model can be somewhat stressful. But, I've just had a look through your Gallery and seriously, you have nothing to worry about. Build it as if it's for you and your customer can't fail to be delighted – you do very nice work.
