    Completed model pictures wanted

    Hello All,

I will try to keep this short and sweet as to not bore you all.

My name is Josh, I have recently finished a university IT degree and have been an enthuesatic modeller for about 2 years.

Without boring you with too many details I'm studying SEO which is the concept behind search engine rankings. I'm looking to create a website (very basic) that revolves around modeling, providing pictures of completed models, equipment, parts and where they can be purchased.

I have a handful of models I have completed but what I would need is additional content.. Pictures of completed models which I can categorise and put into albums. I would have no problem referencing modellers details if they wish.

The idea of my website would be to allow people to view entire albums of completed models. So, for example I'm looking to buy a revell tiger tank but want to see different designs or details.

I have no intention of stealing people or pictures from this forum as I think this forum is fantastic and I really enjoy being a part of it.

I'm looking to gather some insight into peoples views and if they would be happy providing me with images?

I already post pictures of my models on the internet on this forum and elsewhere. The images are effectively in the public domain as a consequence, so I would have no problem allowing their use on the sort of site you are proposing.

    Cheers

    Steve

        Hi Josh and welcome.

An interesting idea that but I find myself asking myself this. Is there a need for such a site. Some times it seems there are more modelling fora than there are modellers. Add to that they all have their sections for completed models, and more often than not a review section.

I think that the most of us can find more than enough info on the WWW about a specific model and any after market parts for it. The problem is often being able to find ALL the info in ONE place. If it is that which you have in mind, then it's a great idea.

I am sure people on here will speak for them selves if they wish to share their work with you. As you have pointed out you will need to ask the the owner of the model and the photos before you can use any of them. You will also need the owner of the web site, and not just on here but all the fora, if you wish to use pictures from a forum.

Good luck with your venture and I hope to hear more about it as it develops.

          Hello Ian,

I totally agree with you on your point. However as I briefly stated (maybe I wasn't as clear as I intended) the website I propose is more about the SEO factor and my own learning than the actual creation of a website to fill a void.

So a personal project to create a search engine that can harvest all the relevant info of a given subject within the model hobby world?

            Cool.

My intention is to create a website (could be on anything, but I have chosen models because its a hobbie) and using different methods study the effects on SEO.
