Brave man bravo I gave up 25 years ago after being a chain smoker if you succeed (which I sincerely hope you do) watch yourself when you think you have won, even now after more than 30 years I still occasionally want one and know if I did it would be the beginning of the end. Just be warned mate.

Good luck, it's not the easiest thing to do. It's been 5 years since I coughed up a lung. As for the beer, that's a habit that takes longer to kick, asda do to many good deals, lol.

Good luck, I stopped for 3 years when I ran out of dosh, like an idiot I started again and got it down to 10 a day then I got ill (non-smoking related) and it climbed again. I am having trouble staying off them despite all the patches, e-cigs etc. As Ken says, watch out, as it will catch when you're least expecting it.

I had no problems giving up the beer - did it overnight (which was surprising as I was an alcoholic).

Cigarettes though ...... a whole different ball game. Took a heart attack and many weeks of struggling to ditch them.

I wish you the bgest of luck trying to do both at once!

Smoking is a prick of a habit to break, been off them for years now but you have to watch it because that urge does creep back in occasionally as others have said. I can smell someone smoking in a car on the motorway many car lengths ahead. My kids will never be able to hide smoke residue on themselves if they dared to try it because I can sense it from a long way away. Do you have state funded replacement therapy in the UK? Here you can get large bags of patches and gum, all paid for by the Government. You can also join a quit line group, when you feel the urge to smoke you ring them up and they encourage you not to do it. On the up side, you will get your taste and smell back within a month or two, your body will stop producing 'lung butter' in the mornings and you will be able to get out and enjoy life in general a whole lot more.

Another great incentive is to put the money you would have spent on tobacco into a savings account. You will be amazed how quickly your funds will grow and see just how much you wasted on smoking. For me that equated to over NZ$3,000 a year. It would be a whole lot more now, the NZ Government taxes tobacco higher than anything else. That is a lot of model kits and equipment, or a really good holiday or two. Or the difference between buying nice groceries rather than just he essentials.

Stay strong Tone, you can do this mate.
