    SMF-HAS IT BENEFITED YOU?

This site has been around for a few years, so many members, some whom have left or no longer participate, others on the sidelines, some are regulars.

For me it has been a source of inspiration in my building; I may never reach the achievements of the many talented modelers on here, but I feel more confident in what I do.

So...how has the SMF experience been for you?

If it has helped you, or not, then add a comment as well as voting.

For me, being disabled and struggling with physical issues and depression this site has shown me, via techniques and members that models can be anything you want. The site is friendly, informative and knowledgeable. I know that my building is not neat and crisp, they may well never be, but my wrecks, weathering etc is something that come about due to me experimenting and finding something I can do and enjoy. I used to get so frustrated when I saw the plethora of models on this site and then my stuff...but the members have taken to my works and accepted them, and due to to this I do not feel alienated and that my work has no value. I have also learned so much in 'how-to' achieve various looks that my work has improved despite being battered and wrecks.

So, for me SMF has given me an awful lot and I am grateful to John, the staff and members.

Purely and simply the forum has helped get me really interested in this hobby as only ever done it as a kid before but am soon to start again but right from the basics. Whole worth of knowledge and skills on here and all very friendly and helpful too.

I have only built one model since finding the forum but it has helped me in trying some different techniques which i can hopefully improve on, and maybe even better the standard of my builds.

It's the most inspirational friendly site on the net I have learnt so much and made some great friends (even if I've never and probably never will meet them)that doesn't change the fact I think of them as friends. Yep this Site has and will continue to improve my life.

Absolutely! The forum has given me invaluable information, inspiration, new ideas & techniques, laughs, the occasional grinding of teeth, and most importantly a pleasant, friendly place to pop into everyday.

Well my models will never reach the standards of what I see here, but that won't be due to not knowing how to do things. Thanks to the guys here, I've discovered techniques for just about everything I've tried to do and my modelling skills have improved enormously because of that!

All I got to do now is develop the patience to apply everything I've learned and actually get round to finishing a few more!

Thinking about it though, if I spent less time looking on here and chattering with you lot, I'd have more time on my workbench so maybe ....

.... naaaaahhhhh! Can't do that! I'd miss it too much.

I still remember my first post three years ago...I showed a SAS Pink Panther (because's my nick) and Ian M said me "nice model, you could sand the sprues..". Sand the sprues? What does it means...? O_o

Not many days ago, I have finished my last work, and I'm still learning new things here!! Simply genial

This forum is part of my day by day habits! Maybe I don't have nothing to say or show, but I like to see the new posts or just take a look if is the Birtday's day of some members!

Is a perfect place, as I've said I learn all that I know here, inclusive my English!! So thank you very much for your PATIENCE all this time! Somedays I took a look on my old threads for information and....well, I must admit, I don't understand my own texts ops: it was really English????

I would say that during this year I have joined on two new sites; a Sci-Fi one and a military one as well... There isn't any possibility to compare them. SMF is the best

                          Regards

I can't think of a better place to be , I like many others have benefited from the great builders on here and even made me think out of the box , I've learnt more in my two years on here than I have in my building life and that's down to the friendly folks that frequent this site

Forget to mention two more points: ops:

The first: thank you to John's forum updates and the the staff members that do this forum becoming fantastic!!

The second: I know perfectly myself, and if I "haven't" this forum, I'm sure that actually I have finished my modeling adventure time ago.... O_o
