I have been looking into lighting over the last week as the light in my room is not the best, I have decided on one of the long arm magnifier types with the daylight florescent ring bulbs but the biggest problem I am having is finding in one in black at an affordable price point. It has to be black as I work in my living room and white would stand out like a sore thumb

I finally found what I was looking for 2 hours after posting my initial message. I have no idea why but I was watching a light on ebay and the price was £300 for some unown reason as a couple of weeks before they were listed at £27 delivered checked back and they were listed at 24.99 delivered so bought one there and then http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Desk-Magnifying-Lamp-Light-5-Diopter-Magnification-Magnifier-Clamp-Salon/221564894299?_trksid=p2046732.c100040.m2060&_trkpa rms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc% 3D20140107095009%26meid%3D2060a22493aa44a887d1a9b8 a314d34d%26pid%3D100040%26prg%3D20140107095009%26r k%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D221564894299

In the workshed (mancave) I have two ceiling attached halogen strip lights, I also have a lighted magnifier, with these I can usually work away into the night...or tilt the chair back and read my boat mag and fall asleep

                        Hey Moni:

I use the Sylvania 6500K Daylight compact florescent bulbs exclusively. Here is a pic of my new workshop:That's only ONE of two overheads and its plenty. I now have a daylight compact desk lamp that is packed away...... But do make sure that, as Bunker said its in the 6000K range. I prefer the 6500K though as its full spectrum. Here is a link to them

                        Hope this helps, Jeff

I must admit I don't like working through a magnifying glass and find they get in the way. I use a cheap pair of reading glasses from Poundland when I need a bit of magnification.
