    Is it just me?

I've seen some nice builds and reviews of the Revell 1/144 Gepard Klasse 143 Schnellboot. I've got one in my stash so I thought I'd have a quick look and see what it's like.

I test fit the hull parts and found what everyone else did - they fit together well with only minimal need for attention with just a smear of putty here and there.

How come I'm the only one who found this?

I know it's an easy fix (I'll have to assemble and test fit the bridge to find out if I should fill this gap here, or move the rear deck forward and add a piece right at the stern), but no-one else has this gap or comments on it being there.

Am I just unlucky or have I upset the god of modelling?

Leave it like that Dave then when completed use it as a money box.

Joking aside that gap is huge

Not being daft but have you checked that the stern end of the deck is placed correctly....

You're not alone Dave - most people have found the new-tool Airfix FW 190 a joy to build. Some, like me, have found it an ill-fitting swine!

Not a daft question, but I have made sure that both the bow and stern fit flush where they're supposed to .....

That is a large gap though, luckily you can sort it Dave.

Phew! Thanks Patrick. I was beginning to wonder if I had been cursed. Nice to know I'm not the only one suffering from kits that seem different to everybody else's!

Its meant to be there Dave , its an expansion gap , designed to allow the hull to flex like a hinge in heavy seas.

                    honest ....

You mean like the floor plates in Concorde? Aren't you supposed to be able to see daylight through the gaps when it's travelling at max. speed?

Don't let that put you off Paul. I've test fit the bridge assembly and it all fits nicely if you slide the rear deck forward to close that gap. You'll need to build up the rear part of the deck with a piece of plasticard to bring it flush with the stern of the hull but that's really simple - even for me!

ive been dying to find an excuse to build this since i bought it about two years ago......what keeps putting me off is that its too long to fit in my display cabinet and until i can think of something else it will stay in the 'too big to build' section of the stash

I saw Roman's build - it was one of the ones that inspired me to take a look at the kit. He only mentions that some minor attention is needed to get the hull parts perfect.
