    Family at birthdays eh?

Well don't get me wrong I love my family but it's my birthday and we've done full sunday dinner for six, and, since it's my birthday did a single one offer to help with dinner, dishing up, or the washing up, you guessed it no, they all sat on their bums whilst we ran round after them and now they have left at each others throats (we don't even know why) family??? Still love them though.

Ken this used to happen with my family until I kicked a whole load of them into touch and just invited the ones that get on and I haven't looked back

People say I'm wrong to do that but the way I look at it is why go through all the agro every birthday, wedding , christening , funeral, Christmas,

I'd rather have people around me and be around people who know how to have a good time and get on

Thing is they usually do and me and the missus don't know what happened, all was fine we went in the kitchen to do the washing up, next thing we knew there was raised voices shouting and doors slamming as they left.

It's just a one off mate I wouldn't let it get to you , all families have their off moments , mine got to the point when it happened more times than not so I got fed up with it and stopped going to family do's and just started inviting those that really ment something to me

Next get together everything will fine mate

Youch that is not nice Ken.

I do hope things can be repaired. In my close family ie children and their families there is harmony.

My own sister ummmm. Did not look after my Mother and Father. I had to commute at intervals from Jersey to London to sort matters.

After my mother died (my father had already departed) she stripped all the items from my mother's house before I got to the house. Even presents Pauline and I had given my mother such as a gold watch for her 80th. I could not believe it my sister.

As my father lay dying on his bed my sister said to him "I love you dad". His reply "oh don't go over the top".

Such is life and the surprises it brings.

The saying you can choose your friends but not your family, springs to mind.

Sprouts I expect - little green things always cause trouble.

I don't understand family either, since falling out with my brother and his wife over my moms estate it's just been me and the cat, last Christmas I had Roast Beef and Yorkshire pud The cat had tuna then we curled up on the sofa watching telly, pretty much a great Christmas

I hope your family didn't spoil your day too much, next year just take your close family out for a nice private meal

That's pretty much what we have decided, it's to much work at our age any way we've decided we will even pay for it had a phone call from our daughter apologizing, still no explanation but it's a start.
