    Revell broken canopy!!

    Hi good people,

I just opened my 1/48 revell eurofighter typhoon and then found out that my canopy was broke in 2 pieces. Any idea how to get a new one? Or even fix them? Hope Revell would send replacement to this part of the world

I just sent them an email, but I don't know if they'll be able to send it here in Indonesia.

You may need to do some adaptions, as the break is in half, you could glue using something like PVA as it will dry clear and not fog the clear parts, once dry you could then add a paint seam running down the length to hide the broken section. Not the best, but if you cannot get a replacement it may just work. Other than that do a crashed version, belly landing, with no seats and the cockpit off.

Hopefully Revell will get back in touch and send out the part.

Leo can you get your supplier to exchange the model ie send it back ? Or supply from another if he has them the replacement canopy. In the UK it is the responsibility of the retailer. Knowing the postage etc the retailer may only be to pleased to go his way. Not always the best in certain circumstances but may be worth a go.

3 to 4 weeks. Airfix have the lead here as I have had stuff from them in days. The Revel item I requested took me by surprise I had finished the model and forgotten I had made a request.

I would complain to Chairman---- whoops-- Chancellor Angela Merkel

Many times revell have sent me new parts or replacement decals free of charge, Airfix ask form me to pay for a replacement sticker that was missing from a build, I'd rather wait and get a good service than poor.

How about placing a "tarpouline" sheet over the windscreen to disguise the broken one, ideal if your basing it on a diorama

So far Adrian Airfix have not charged me anything. The last piece I noted that I had probably broken the piece my self but they sent it free of charge and within days.

Three to four weeks is pretty good seeing as they are paying for the freight no doubt and Leo is in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In that case Joe it appears it is going to be even longed as the 3 to 4 weeks is the estimate on handling not delivery.

They quoted me the same time for my decals and they arrived within 10 days, I know its a different area to deliver but lets stay positive

Better for them to over estimate than to under estimate. You'd be pretty upset if they said ten days and it took four weeks. The other way around it seems like they are doing you a big favour and you'll feel good about them.

You are right Adrian. Keep positive. Pessimism before the event is this an English thing ?

It will be interesting to find the result from Leo.
