    LSA models closing

another big shock and sad to see them close is lsa models , there closing at the end December, such a shame to lose two established shops in such a short time, strange as spoke to both at telford and nothing was said.

wish them all the best for the future

It is a shame but the Internet is here to stay, the government could help by lowering highstreet rates for small shops so they could compete more. It make more sence as well surely its better to get less money for something than none, which obviously would happen with an empty shop.

Your right Ken but unfortunately it's the local councils that choose the rates and you know they won't do anything to help

I prefer to go to a hobby shop it gives you the chance to look at a box there's always something good about fondling a box I suppose it's a through back to when we were kids

we don't have a lot of model shops in N Ireland but the ones I use I like to support , their prices are sometimes a bit higher than the net but as Alan says you get to touch the kits and ours is also a hub for meeting fellow modellers and have a chat .

LSA models, White Ensign Models, both in a month. A2Zee has also shut up shop, though in different circumstances and I believe most of the product lines have been taken on by another couple of companies.

WEM was not a bricks and mortar type of shop so the issues are not entirely related to that. Of course I don't know how they ran their business and there could be any number of reasons why they have so suddenly packed up.

I was on another model shops site recently (I'm not naming names for obvious reasons) and was alarmed to see that, unusually, almost everything was out of stock. There may be a perfectly innocent reason for this, but in the present climate it caused me a furrowed brow.

The way things are going, in a few years time we'll all be buying from one major retailer, probably the one not a million miles from the RAF museum

              Cheers

              Steve
