Built loads when I was a kid but I must have lost interest and didn't do any for years. About 20 years ago I had a bad motorbike crash and started painting citadel figures for something to do. I live in Bomber County (Lincolnshire) not far from RAF Coningsby so I'm fortunate to regularly see the BBMF fly over. My wife bought me the BBMF kit as a Xmas present a couple of years ago and it got me hooked.

What started me was going past the local toy etc. shop for the umpteenth time and eventually going in and asking "How much is a Spitfire". The seller was (is) an expert modeller and the rest is history.

From 13 or so to 43 I built absolutely nothing! But my first kit 4 years ago was Tamiya's Tiger I late version - no longer with me, which is probably a good thing!

Like most of you started as a kid building airfix planes then saw bellona military plans and got hooked on scratch building a f v,

then in my late teens it was girls bikes etc then got married still built the odd kit then a mate got me interested in r c aircraft did that for about 13 years drawing up my own plans building and crashing them not touching a kit for all that time .

i then saw a mag with dragsters and hot rods in it and that started me building kits again after building cars for about 15 years i donated 75 of my dragsters to the national hot rod museum in america, wanted a change so started building locos for a few years then BRANCHED into rail guns.!!!!!

Sorry its bit long winded thats the story of my modeling life.

I like Daleks, preferrably from behind the sofa! Is that the Severn's dalek? I sold one about 10 years ago for about £60 on e-bay.

Back to the subject... My son bought a Mini from Modelzone when it was closing and said, they had some good offers, I bought a 1/450 USS Missouri and I was hooked again.

Revel's re-pop of the 1/72 HMS Bluebell. Bought a truck load of photoetch and metal detail sets for it. that was four, almost five years ago. One day I might get it finished.

You can see it at the back of the build bench in most of my under construction threads...

I think like Al the wonderful world of cheap drinks in NAAFI and squadron bars, chasing girls and going to gigs was the cause of my modelling hiatus. Then when I found "the one" and moved in with her the first Christmas present she bought me was a Flying Scotsman train set (she got a Scalextric). The model railway journey started and kits needed building for my layouts.

When Airfix released their Nimrod I bought two but didn't really catch the bug again until I watched The Battle of Midway one Sunday afternoon followed by a visit to Modelzone and all these kits fell into my arms.

I still have the model railway but as usual there are too many models and not enough time.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

I never stopped building, just changed to scratch building for years I did it then last year I bought the Academy tiger and I've been hooked ever since not done one single bit to my scratch builds(and I'm sure they're sighing with releif).
