Recommendations - Dragon v Tasca 1/35 British Sherman

As the heading says guys if you had the choice to build a 1/35 British Sherman what would you choose Dragon or Tasca , both are expensive but being my birthday tomorrow plan to splash out a bit more than I normally would , any advice would be much appreciated

Without a moments hesitation - Tasca. Quite simply the best Sherman (if not armour) models available in 1/35! If your interested I've got a Tasca Firefly on ebay with metal barrel by Lion Marc up for £35 + £5 p&p.

I'm not pushing Tasca because of this - they are the best Sherman models around. Which version are you after? M4, M4A1, M4A4 etc. Do you want a Sherman in US or British service?

    Cheers

That's the starting price Richy. There's no offers yet so have a punt, It finishes Sunday - not too long to wait. If you get it at that price you'll save yourself £20 or so.

I can't really sell it to you privately as the auction has started and frankly I'd like to recoup as much as possible on the sales, although it would be nice if you won it.

        British service - you'll be looking mostly at M4, M4A1 M4A2 & M4A4 - Sherman I, II, III, V respectively to the British + the up-gunned models - Sherman 1c, 1c hybrid and Vc (Fireflies).

I'm really not pushing Tasca on you - I just think they're the last word in Sherman's. Build one and you'll see what I mean. However, the newer Dragon ones are cool too. Just so that you know just how keen I am on these Tasca models, I've got a Sherman V and 4 other fireflies in the Stash - 2 I'm going to convert back to Shermans!

Oh, one last thing on the Tasca VVSS suspension - it works and each bogie requires a careful and quite lengthy build. If this doesn't put you off (it certainly doesn't deter me) then Tasca every time!

        All the best mate

Best of luck with it mate. I hope you do get it because I know you'd make a good job of it.

I don't know if you remember my Sherman V completed model? I used it as an example of pigments used to simulate wet mud? Anyway, that's a Tasca kit. Here's a few pics

            Best of luck
