you need half life, or half life 2 to be able to play counterstike. it is, and always has been the most played online game of all time. you can pick up a copy of half life 2 game of the year addition fo 20 odd quid and get counterstike for free once you sign up to steam (the engine that runs all the games and is also free)

            well worth it!!!!

erm, i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but BF2 has sold more copies than Source and HL combined! :-P (even if it is an EA game!)

but hl2 is game of the year, and you can just download counterstrike, so it dosnt stop it from being the number one played online game.

think that beat all those ones like diablo and magic the gathering n all the ones loads of people play!!!

Unforchantly, My Internet Connection sucks, so I dont play games on the net (9Kb/s Upload, takes about 10 mins to upload a 5MB file.).

But when NTL Upgrades me upto 10 Meg or 100 Meg connection (They said that they are upgrading everyone to 10 meg ages ago), I will play Trackmaina Sunrise, Trackmaina Nations, Need For Speed Most Wanted, and UT2004 Online.

I Think that They will only upgrade the 10 meg (i.e. NTL 3Meg) customers to 100Meg connection though. Our set top box can only take 10meg Max, so that is proberly what they will put us on.

We have the 1 Meg (£17.99) package.

The higher speeds will be rolled out fully to 3Mbps customers by the end of this year' date=' and the rest of its 1.4 million customer next year.[/quote']You should be already experencing it if you are a NTL customer. (By the end of 2005). If not, go to the Speed Upgrade page.

bit pointless as my wireless set up at home can only handle 54mbps,

i have the 10mbps ntl already. So if they up me to 100mbps i will have to phone them and get them to put me on a cheaper tarrif. looks like they will be shooting themselves in the foot for some subscribers.
