Why you shouldn't build when ill.

I had high hopes for this build, it started out as a 'Mirror' universe, then it slowly went wrong, it was then going to be USS Constellation from the TOS 'Doomsday machine'. This too went wrong, not sure at what point things did go wrong but they did and any recovery attempt just made things worse, despite leaving it.

In the end it is USS Exeter with a green snotty covering and some web to try and hide the shame... Cannot even bring myself to put this in the finished Sci-Fi section as it just isn't worthy.

This is/was supposed to be Xmas prezzie instead it is going in the bin.

    Si.

Hard to give an opinion mate as I don't know what you going for

If you were going for a starship caught in a giant space spiders web I'd say it looks like it's a starship caught in a giant spiders web

If not then I think the crew need to get out there and give it a good clean

One thing I can say is it's not beyond the scope of Star Trek to have a giant space spider in it

LOL, ta mate, anything is possible in Sc-fi. It wasn't what I had hoped for and I certainly cannot give this as a present...it really is awful and even though I don't think I am a great modeler...this is dire even by my standards

I think the main problem here is you've got too much web on it , there is a lot of the damage covered up and it seems it's too dark maybe freeing some of it up and putting some lighter grey/whites and some steel on it might give it some detail

Even the chuffing stand broke! It will not support the weight of the ship so is back to front with me re-drilling the ship to try and get it fit. I will tease the filament web some more and see if it looks better...although I am thinking a black bin bag will work better.

If it was me I would rip most of it off and have sticking out of the ground like it's crashed on a moon with a strang vegetation that has grown over it

By crashed on a moon, do you mean landfill?

I have taken some of the web off so you can see what it looks like.

Feel for you Si. When things go wrong it is very frustrating. I have a good vocabulary to illustrate these things.

It is when all starts well and then numerous things seem to go wrong at an incredible speed.

But Si step back there is another day. Plus a new project to start.

Near gave up on my Merlin Helicopter. Weathering just was not going as I wanted and was on the point of ditching the weathering and producing a pristine helicopter on the tarmac at Westland Yeovil. Took a day off and practised. Good days work

So keep you hat on Si.

                  Laurie

Si I think there was an episode of star trek called Web snot planet attacks where the enterprise was shot down by giant snot and Web throwing aliens that looked a bit like a cross between a slug and a spider. Were that the episode you were trying to depict I would have given you a great build, since it's not i won't shame as it could have been great.

                            Errr....mmmm...well O_o

I have some similar builds on my short modeling life, so don't worry about it!! Today you have learned a lesson, tomorrow you will build a better model Si

I recommend to leave it on a visible place on the bench, it's very useful to take a look at what you don't have to do next time! It works!! Almost for me lol

Errr...mmmm...well indeed Polux, not my finest hour that's for sure. Can I salvage it? Doubt it. Can I make it any worse? Doubt it. Do I want to work it? Doubt it.

Keeping it looking at me on the bench would just get me angry all the time...better to give it a honorable death and a quick burial...I.E the bin.
