Do you paint figures? Because if you do, there is some 1:72 WW2 Italian Infantry on the Airfix Website for £1.49 -

Again, for Airfix, you can get an Avro Lancaster B.III, a Submarine Spitfire PRXIX, and a Submarine Spitfire MkII for £29.99Comment

Take your wife out for a "posh" meal John.
Nice to sit in a bit of luxury eating your favourite food and drinking your favourite tipple. All served up.
Forget all the world and just chat together. One of the best, I find, enjoyments in the world. With the person you love most in this world.

The thing is you buy smaller stuff all the time anyway but when you get a lump of money that you would not normally have for buying a model, that, for me, is when you buy the big thing that you wouldn't normally have treated yourself to. Go for something that you would not normally buy such as an Airfix 1/24th Mossie or Typhoon, or maybe a Trumpeter large scale warship. Then you have a single thing to look at for years to come to remind you of the Christmas.
If you have anything left you can take the Missis to MacDonalds!!Comment

I'm with Richard here. Buy some thing that you have often wanted, but not had the readies for-
I would go for something big that will take a while and have a bit of wow factor.
