DAMN AND BLAST!

Some you may remember the issue I had a few months ago regarding a dodgy molar. Well, I went to the butchers (dentist) and they told me I had been grinding my teeth and damaged the ligaments of that tooth, I was given a guard to wear and although not 100% better it settled down and all was okay.

Well now it isn't. Bit down on a sandwich and have just cracked the chuffing thing! Trying to wear the guard to minimise movement but going to have to get in on Monday, hopefully. This is annoying as the tooth isn't bad...so we shall see what can be done, although last time I was there he told me any issues and it would be taken out As I have said before, in my 40's with all my teeth and no fillings...not happy.

Perfect record coming to an end?

My teeth are not in great shape, despite the rest of me. As a result, I do a lot of closed mouth smiling in my photos...

My dentist has really been happy recently.

I would be happy for him if it was not for the fact that it is my money I paid him that he is so happy about.

Feel lucky Si. I have more fillings and denture teeth than I have real ones.

Well, the dentist took an x-ray and it has cracked along the length, he numbed the tooth and area and then added some sort of epoxy that is hardened by UV or IR I think. Temporary fix as I am back again next Thursday for my proper dentist to have a good look and decide what to do-the odds are: 80% it will be pulled with the top crumbling-if the roots cannot be extracted then they will cut through the gum and bone to get them out-not looking forward to this. 20% they maybe able to cap it.

Doesn't hurt so suppose that is something.

        Si.

I absolutely hate dentists I went to one about 35 years ago with tooth ache his name was Payne he said I needed my tooth removed, it was a molar, he removed it and said he would book me in to have the rest removed as I had gum disease and if left they would fall out anyway sent me off with asprins. Well if I thought I had tooth ache before. I would happily cut my head off went back and he said well you do have a hole the size of a bullet in your mouth and sent me home, told me if it gets worse see your doctor. I cancelled the next appointment, I've since found out that tooth should have been removed in hospital, also I still have all, I repeat all the rest of my teeth and have never seen a dentist since so my advice is save your money and your pain. Dentist are just legalised sadists

Yep, not a good start to the New Year, luckily the health plan means I get half back of the costings.

Know that sounds like a plan Ian, cheaper and probably more enjoyable.

Cheers Peter, toothache and tooth works are awful, for me they rank up there with a bad back-just cannot seem to place yourself or find comfort despite painkillers.

Do not worry Si. My first visit to the dentist at 4 years old they used chloroform on a handkerchief.

Hear they now have better results. They hand you the bill before the performance. Knocks most people out .

Hate teeth and dentists even more. Now 50 years of age I have had my fair share of visits caps bridges root canals abscesses extractions it's now 2015 why does it still feel so barbaric and I always feel violated after treatment oooo and then there's the bill at the end.My other half as perfect teeth she hasn't been to the dentist in 28 years brushes them twice daily.I however have had regular check ups and have probably had unnecessary work carried out so the dentist can pay is mortgage.I once bit his finger and it must have hurt cause he jumped so I did manage abit of payback. keep smiling treatment will soon be over and then you can forget all about it

The way to deal with it is simple. After he's given you the local and is standing next to you ready to start, gently grab his b***s with a pair of pliers and say sweetly: "Now we're not going to hurt each other, are we?"
