    SICK AND FED UP!

I have my shed and have had nothing but issues regarding then leaking roof-we have contacted the company via email and phone and got heard nothing back. As this is where I store and work on my models it was kitted out. We have tried to stem the drips by coating the outside felt seems (they are just stapled to the roof-badly) with bitumen, but this hasn't cured it completely.

I went out this evening to do a bit of work, but the electricity on, turned on the lights and then the heater-it went bang, noticed then that it was surrounded by water-I have water on my models, my RC boats have water in them, my fleece was dripping wet. I have had enough, not using the shed again-just do not want to face it. Have been in touch again so will wait and see.

Have taken pictures to prove it.

    Si.

Sorry to hear of your roof problems.I have a garage in my back garden that I do my modelling in.The roof leaked in several places. After getting two ridiculous quotes to replace the roof I eventually did it myself for a lot less money.Instead of roofing felt I bought a rubber roofing system from 'rubber4roofs'.Basically a big sheet of rubber that you glue onto the wooden roof and some edge trims to finish it off.Completely water tight.Doesnt help you though I know. You just have to keep on at the shed company untill they fix it.

It was erected last May, all was well until we had the heavy rain the leaking-got in touch, naff all etc. We payed over £600 of this shed and spent nearly a £100 cladding it inside-it isn't even fit to use a tool shed!

Si we have an outhouse where in the summer I do my modrling. Itused to leak but we got some rubberised paint to put on the roof (which is as rotten as a pear (our landlord is not interested in fixing it)) I have to say we have not had a leak since(it is guaranteed 25yrs) I know your shed should be okay as it's new but if they won't sort it I am sure I could get the name of the stuff we used. Hope you get it sorted mate.

Sorry to hear about that Si here is a page from my book call them directly and speak to someone and tell them that they have 1 week to fix it and put it right or you will be going to speak to trading standards. It is good that you have taken photos these can be used as proof, when you have to speak to trading standards take note of everything that is ruined and add a pound quote to it, if they still don't fix it then trading standards should help you get all your cash back plus a cost for damages.

Did you have is put up. or did you do it. Trading standards or the like may be able to help. Does your home insurance cover out houses/sheds and contents.

                Hope you get it sorted.

                  Man that sucks Si.

Try using fibre glass mate, yeah it holds a price tag but the bonus is you won't get wet again, contact your local GRP roofer and get a price!

I used to do it, it's good stuff and smells lush...a legal (ish) high!

                  Good luck mate

Sounds to me Si like condensation. You may say it only happens when it rains and that is the possibility. When it rains the RH relative humidity increase rapidly especially if it is warmer say i the afternoon than early evening.

Just a thought. I cannot believe that a shed would leak as the bitumen roofing must be in one length without joints.

My sympathies Si, I know how you feel. We used to live in a block of houses with a flat roof. When water started pouring through our bathroom, we had the builders in who found the water was getting under the roofing felt of the house next door but one and running between the layers into our house. 'course, their house was OK so they wouldn't pay anything towards the cost of repairs!

Bad news Si but can't your throw a sheet of plastic over the roof for a quick fix until this situation is resolved so you could at least carry on modelling.

Thanks guys for the responses and the help. They never responded to the message via ebay or phoned us-we finally phoned them and it was the answer machine-again. My wife resorted to playing nice and asked if they could call back regarding a new shed. Within 30 mins they called back and my wife let them have it-if the weather is okay on Friday they are re-felting the roof. They are going to have to felt over the top of the bitumen as there is £40 worth on there, plus I don't trust them. Re-did the roof this morning, a tad cold but had too do something.
