    Neaps and tatties Burn's night

Oh dear oh dear you have all forgotten.

    It is Robbie Burn's night.

Neaps tatties and a Haggis. The gravy a nice whisky poured on the neaps and tatties to calm them down.

And left a dram or two to warm the heart.

A Stewart I am and a Stewart I be. For what more scottish can that be. A Stewart thro and thro that's me.

    But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,

The trembling earth resounds his tread.

Clap in his walie nieve a blade,

    He'll mak it whissle;

An' legs an' arms, an' hands will sned,

    Like taps o' trissle.

No it is a private affair but if you were near Si you and your missus would be here.

Come May a different occasion. Young son getting married. Elder son Best Man. Me father. Grandson Ring Man. All in Highland Clothing. Kilts etc.

Piper at the Church, at the Reception.

Evening about 9pm Scottish Society Jersey Pipes and Drums will march into the dance room. All a secret no body but Pauline and I (now you please keep the secret) know. What a sight and what a clatter. About 6 pipers and 6 drummers. God am I looking forward to that moment.

My dram will be poured in an hour or so. I am always amazed at the power of whisky to suffuse all parts of the human body in seconds. I had haggis yesterday. I love the stuff. My wife doesn't. Nor does the cat.

            Laurie: have you discovered:

            http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/robertburns/works/to_a_mouse/

It has the text of many of Burns' poems (not just "To a Mouse"), beautifully read. The man with the beard does the best, I think.

Oh Steve that made me giggle. Perhaps as you indicate it is the best medicine that Human Beings have ever produced and may long it continue. better than any antibiotic or pain killer.

              Your poor cat

And Si you would be more than welcome.

Indeed all on this forum would make a good party. Would that not be something

I shall now put on my favourite. The Dark Island played by the Scots Dragoon Guards.

Made my day Si. So many thanks. My eldest son's marriage was 23 years ago to his lovely wife Paula.

To day for me has been a day of days.

If you have not been to the Highlands of Scotland you have deprived yourself.

It is God's own country. It has everything. From Glen to Loch, from Mountain to Isle it is the most beautiful place on this earth. It has everything and changes which ever way you turn.

The west coast has every beauty ever seen. The last of the gulf stream allows exotic plants with inlets crowded with iris making their way in the sandy soil by the lapping water

The rail line from Fort William wending its way around inland lochs a million miles from any roads and humanity. Beautiful green of the grass, the heather in the autumn and the blue of the lochs.

It passes the memorial to Bonny Prince Charlie set on a plain with mountains within the background. As I have said and repeat God's Own Country. It is just vast.

Go to Fort William and on the pier is the old ferry waiting room. This has been renovated and made into a restaurant. Our choice was. Longustine straight from the Loch that day. Fresh trout followed by cranachan, fresh raspberries with cream whisky and oat flakes.

Thanks. I really enjoyed that, especially the banner add on the Utube window "Russian women want you. Post details to Russian beauties." Made my day!
