OK Bikes are now done let us go on to cars.

What was you first and then later ? Go on show off.

Ok I will. My first a Grey A35. Is she not a little beauty. Yes she was pride and a lot of joy. Got to be first car at the age of 23.

This is not mine but the owner has painted the wheels white as I did.

1st car I bought was a Renault Laguna. Had loads since then, various Peugeots, Citroen Picasso, Sierra, Scirocco, Focus, Megane.

One day would love a Morris minor with split screen.

This was my first car. I saved two years for it in 1979. Not my photo, but mine was the same color/stripe combination. 1968 Dodge R/T Charger. Mine did not have a Hemi!

Well, my first car was a 1979 Talbot-badged Hillman Avenger station wagon. Great first car, I learned to drive in it (picture not of my actual car). Also had my first accident in it being a dick.

Then I bought a 1985 Holden Commodore VK straight-six sedan. Loved it, a heavy beast that only got about 350km per 80 litre tank. That would be frowned upon now days for sure. My pride and joy until it was stolen and never recovered (again not my actual car):

I then became more sensible and bought a 199-somehting Ford Telstar diesel. Had a nice stereo but overall it was a complete piece of c**p, and I have never touched another Ford since.

It blew itself up on a country road. I patched a broken coolant pipe up with a bag strap and drove it straight to a car dealer to get a Toyota.

This is my Toyota before I traded it in for my current car. I drove this for 13 years, it never missed a beat, was economical and I still miss it despite its age and lack of safety features. When I sold it it had 250000km on the clock or thereabouts, and I'd done 220k of them. I believe it's still running, and last time I heard it'd done close to 400k.

And this is what I traded it for, and my current car. Holden VE Commodore. Great car, love it and will hang on to it. A shame that GM are forcing Holden to shut down production of the Commodore in about 2017/8. A blow to the Australian car industry. They are awesome vehicles, you get a lot of bang for your buck and they have power to spare. In Europe they are marketed as Vauxhall I believe and are popular in North America as Chevrolet (formerly badged as Pontiac).

I bought a mk3 Escort for £280 from a WAAF I worked with. The passenger door hinge was broken and when I took a Doris out in it she thought I was being gallant by opening the door for her to get in, the truth was I didn't want it to fall on her foot. The driver side window would go down but not up without taking the trim off so whenever I got to the main gate I had to open the door to give the guard my id and car pass. My mum borrowed it one time and wound the window for a fag and couldn't get it to go back up and cursed me when she got a soaking driving to Inverness and back in the rain.

The boot floor was rotten with corrosion and repaired with biscuit tin lids! Then on one journey up the A9 the fan belt went leaving me driving through Pitlochry in the pitch dark with no lights.

I traded up for a 1973 VW bay window camper....and blew an inlet valve on the A9....again. After I got it fixed the main bearing went....on the A9!

I've got terrible luck with cars, usually red ones. Another blown engine the day before my posting to Kinloss, dodgy fuel controllers in Massif Centrale, loose spark plugs near Hockenheim and another blown engine on a 1972 VW bay window camper but this time on the M6 on the way to Glastonbury.

Does anyone want to buy a (red) car from me?
