I caught this on Film 4 (in the UK) on Saturday, and it's on again at 6:25 on Friday evening. It's a Japanese animated account of the early life of Jiro Horikoshi, designer of the Zero. The director is Hayao Miyazaki, better known for his animated fantasies like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke - this takes it well away from 'just a cartoon' territory. As ever with Miyazaki, this is serious film making and the artwork is exquisite.
I really enjoyed it, especially a whole series of (animated) large Caproni aircraft from between the wars. Definitely worth sampling.
