So theres a question to everybody

You must have bought the kit and just chucked it on to the stash pile

My habit is sit down and look thro the sprues for any problems.....read the instructions to see what options there are......look at the paint/decal options even tho it might be months or years before i build it.......work out if i need any paint.......generally just fondle the plastic lol

weird i know but thats me

Am i the only one to do this or does everyone just add the box to the stash without looking inside it?

I generally have a look but keep the bag sealed. Mainly because I quite often sell on kits that I’ve lost interest in.

Noo i think you are not alone. So many kits i have thinking oh i will build this one very soon.I read or see a nice model and think i will build it.Get said kit and then the interest fizzles away.My wife says the huge stash of kits must be bewildering. She says why dont i just have say 30 and cull the rest by selling.Trouble is trying to choose just 30 and id be oh must keep this or that.Probably end up keeping 50.But i know some whose collection runs into hundreds Kit wise i must have 100 plus

Maybe you mean 'us' and not 'me'! Ha!

I assumed everyone does this, I certainly do, make a few notes of my build plan in pencil on the instruction sheet, I very rarely build out of the box so sometimes I have to wonder why I bought the thing!

It's kind of satisfying to fondle the plastic and study the instructions with a nice cup of tea and a biscuit or two, and then burying it in the stash for an unspecified length of time safe in the knowledge it's ready for that metaphorical rainy day!

Just thought I’d drop this in here.

I’m currently building an Airfix 1/72 Beaufighter which was coming along nicely.
However one of the engine cowls dropped to the floor as I pushed my chair back to pick it up and heard a crunching sound as the wheel ran over the part 😱
I tried to repair it but it was beyond saving so I emailed Airfix and yesterday this replacement turned up in the post free of charge, well done Airfix 😊

Well my self imposed ban on buying new kits didn’t last long 😳

A lot of outlets seem to be selling these off at discount prices. I presume they have fallen well down in the pecking order since the Airfix version was released.

ID:	1260055 Its certainly not as detailed as the Airfix one but still looks like a solid kit 🙂

I live not too far from a certain auction house that specialises in toys/collectables......yesterday was an auction for 'models'......covered our stuff plus diecast and balsa stuff

there was lots of stuff i wasnt interested in or got out bid on

it was fun being in a proper live auction whilst being at home
but im happy with what i did win...and of course i saved a fortune on p&p since i could just call in and pick up

problem now is i dont know what to build first.....especially since i already have kits lined up for the 3 GBs starting soon lol

I was only really after 1/35 military and 1/24 cars.....did miss out on a nice bundle of 1/48 aircraft by a tenner and kicked myself for not going for it

All still bagged....in fact most were unopened still sealed.......all still had price tags still on....who ever originally bought them liked buying from Hannants lol

Me neither but they seem pretty good after a nosy in the box

From what ive found out they have some kind of tie in with AFV Club....so cant be that bad

                Edit

Seems they were an up and coming brand.....well thought of.......but then aquired in early '00s by afv club

Airbrush wise I highly recommend H&S. Easy to clean and maintain, excellent results, and spares are readily available.

I found this while looking for something else (isn't that always the way!) My most expensive kit to date an eBay purchase at £80!

Although I found these is the box . . .

Although I probably will never use them
