Starting to realise that I'm going to need something to do some scribing with... What are peoples' recommendations? Any specific links appreciated! :-)

 I use one of these.

Introduction To Using Bare-Metal Foil - Bare-Metal Foil Co.

It works for me. You are going to get people who will say that they use everything from a pin in a vice to the back of a blade but I was always told to use the correct tool for the job and this is the correct tool.

 Cheers

I bought recently a Tamiya Plastic Scriber 11.

At the time there were a number of this & other types on Amazon.

Used it on a 1/72 Lancaster seems to do the job. Used a car body lining tape as a guide for scribing. The tape has a thickness to it & makes a good guide. Releases easily & best of all can be used on curves for instance the top of the fuselage.

Started with a gentle strokes & then increased after a guide line had been established.

Read recently that a guy was using a coat of "Tamiya Extra Thin Cement" on the scribed line. Got the cement but not had the guts to try it. Suppose it just fractionally melts the edges of the groove formed making it more realistic.

Eventually tracked down a supplier. These things are very rare.

Search Evil-Bay and look for cheap sets of dentists tools, just "re-edge" them with an Arkansas stone and you're away.Comment

Problem there is that Jersey Customs clobber me for import tax & having to fill in a long form then pay the stuff. Well worth it when the rate was over 2 dollars to the pound but now it is very touch & go.Originally posted by \Already ordered it for about that much (a little less in fact) including P&P direct the the US! Fine on simple things but when they go wrong the whole matter becomes very un-pleasant. Took 11 months & about 50 emails to sort a problems on hard drives before I got my money back in driblets form the USA supplier.

Matter of interest I have had things form USA delivered in 36 hours.

Well, hopefully an obscure small pointy sharp metal object won't attract too much attention from customs' x-ray machines :smile8:Comment
