We all owe a debt of gratitude to Shunsaku san, the level of excellence in Tamiya kits have inspired other manufacturers to improve fit finish and detail to rival Shizuoka's finest!
I have a number of Tamiya kits from the 1970's that still hold their own today, The Churchill VII being one. They've never been in the budget end of scale modelling but quality costs money, their range of tools and paints are a benchmark for others to follow.

I’m sure he will be missed by family and friends but what a legacy he leaves behind.
I think you can be considered to have had a successful innings when your name has been the byword for excellence in your chosen field.
