    Yea glad he is gonna be ok. At first glance it looked like a Ryan,but that had an in line . Not sure what it is

                It's a Ryan PT-22 Recruit. This is a later version of the in-line-engined version mentioned by Trey.

                The earlier Ryan monoplane had an in-line Menasco engine which was gradually improved in later versions to become the STM. The PT-22 went radial.

                  Apparently, Mr Ford was attended quickly by a surgeon who was playing golf at the time. So gentlemen, if you are going to crash your plane, choose an upmarket golf club to do it on.......

                    Jolly good Old Bean, next time I am out flying one of my many, very expensive vintage aeroplanes for a casual Friday afternoon outing, I shall stay in the vicinity of the doctor and the club rooms.
