Mine was the Airfix 1/72 Stuka, my dad brought it for me when I was in hospital as a 7 year old. That was 37 years ago! (eeeeeeek). A little poignant really as he died a few days ago.Comment

Mine was one of the Airfix historical figures of Richard I. I got it as an Xmas present. My parents bought the glue and two pots of paints a red and a gold. Why a gold an not a silver for the chainmail I do not know. I put it all together, then painted it, but it looked a bit silly as I could not paint the face and the chainmail was gold. I must have been about 10, nealy forty years ago!Comment

My 1st build would have been in 1966, when aged 7.
Airfix VW Beetle, 1/32 scale, green plastic, with a nice tinge of dried bostic here, there and everywhere!! I couldn't have blamed anyone else as my fingerprints were all over it.
I think that was followed up by a Lotus Cortina, the only final difference was that the plastic was initially white!!Comment

I will always remember my first kit, it was an Airfix tractor, although I think my dad actually finished it because I was getting glue all over the kit!
It started me on a journey that I cannot see and end to.... thankfully.

I was just talking about this very thing yesterday. My son (5) and I are making an Airfix Westland helicopter and I was thinking of my own first kit. It was the Matchbox P51 Mustang called Dooley Bird. That would have been around 1978. After 'helping' my own father build the 1:72 scale Hercules with Land Rover and Bloodhound missile combination, it was my first solo project. I wish I still had both of those kits now.Comment
