    Games Consols..... Too old?

I would consider myself a casual gamer nowadays, maybe 2-4 hours a week, always found it a great way to unwind and switch-off..... Have always had a gaming machine, commodore 64, atari, Sega Mega-Drive, playstations, xbox, custom built PC's and now have a PS4..... Played most genres but mainly play first person shooters, from the original Doom all the way up Farcry 4.... And i marvel at how far they have come, im 48 yrs old and was just ordering Borderland: the handsome collection, when the other half asked "do you think you will still be playing at 60" to which i replied "if im still able to, then yes".

Would like to think im not alone...... But who knows?

Amos, I was in at the very start. Like you I have owned all the generation of game consoles...except Xbox...don't want one! With the exception of the 4, I still have the launch day issues of all the playstation consoles.

I was 67 this March, and what did my eldest son give me for a present?...a PS4! Complete with Farcry 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, The last of us and Grand Theft auto 5.

I regularly go co-op with my son. He's very patient!

I also enjoy the flight sims. on my computer.

Too old? No chance, as long as my fingers work and I can see well enough, I'll carry on playing games.

I have an Xbox 360 and haven't touched it years , I got bored with them , petty graphics crap gameplay

That was until I saw an old Star Wars rogue squadron game on the N64 so I bought the N64 console and the guy gave me the game free I took it back and set it up and started playing away and I must admit it was loads of fun and ha ought some more N64 games , goldeneye, the world is not enough, and some football games

Ive played them all and had loads of fun , now I'm on the look out for a PS1 and mega drive

The graphics might be rubbish by today's standards but the game play is much better

I don't play with them so much now....maybe 20 hours per YEAR!!!

          but I still love them

Nintendo, Mega Drive, ....inclusive I bought the Neo Geo when I was in Japan!!! The arcade machine, was the "Ferrari" of the consoles at his time!!! Amazing one, it is hide somewhere

When was younger I always play, generally, battle fight games. (streets of rage, Samurai Shodown, Street fighter, king of fighters,...)

Now, as I said, I play maybe two times during a year, and always are strategic games.

I still have a Nintendo DS that have two lovely games....The age of Empires and Panzer Tactics!! On the first one you can recreate the most relevant battles of the past history. With the second one you can recreate all the WWII battles, and you can choice if to be the German or the allied forces

Ah....forget!! The Doctor Layton's games are really fun as well

Your not alone Amos I'm 51 this year and as a kid I was regular visitor to all the arcades on the yearly family holiday to Weymouth spent hrs n hrs in there. Our local youth centre brought us the 1st pong console if any of you remember that really groundbreaking breathtaking game compared to today's standards. To cut along story short I've pretty much had all the consoles ever manufactured and have been an avid gamer for years and can still "hold my own" on the COD franchise with some memorable kill death ratios used to love free for all mode and let it be know I hate campers with a passion. But over the last 12 months I have lost interest in gaming as it seems to me the developers are just churning out rubbish of late but I heard a rumour yesterday that cod will be going back to ww11 era which for me being old school is great news. Its funny the timing of this post as I did have a dabble on the xbox last night I was playing dead space 2 it made my hair stand on end and sent shivers down my spine as I'm doing the campaign mode with very little ammo and loads of nasty monsters running around.Might have another bash today if the bug takes hold I'm also very tempted by the last of us on the ps3/4

So no mate definitely not on your own and gardening tools just not as sexy as games controllers in my opinion

I don't have a console, but I love War Thunder on my PC. My two daughters like Tanki - wife's not too pleased with that.

In the main on the PC but I gave up on PC gaming years ago due to the many hardware updates to run the latest games very expensive time consuming and frustrating.

Have you heard today head teachers are to report parents who let there kids play games over the age stated to the authorities as playing games like GTA and COD are too violent and sexually explicit and can be classed as neglect and also to stop children being groomed on line

The ONLY time I ever played a 'puter game was on a pub machine. How long ago? Gotta be more than 30 years. The game was Ping Pong and I was totally rubbish at it. I've never looked at a game since - apart from Free Cell and Solitaire of course.

Wow Im younger then you guys and I cant play the new games almost at all. My brother and my step daughter's boyfriend are like masters of games. They buy games and beat them in like two days. I cant get past level 3. The first person shooter games are so hard these days! Im just getting into Call of duty black ops 2 a little bit. I like the zombies part but when I play with them splitscreen I just burden them with consistently having to be revived. Only games Im good at are the old Nintendo ones. I will hand both them boys their asses in RBI BASEBALL 1,2, or 3!
