The award for most boring looking aircraft, and the award goes to !

    The A380.

dull dull dull. It truly is a bus with wings. Ready salted crisps without the salt. Coka Cola without vodka. Sex without a partner.

I could go on, but i think you get the gist!

same old hot chestnut in the design industry.... should form follow function or visa versa....?

          - that huge thing passed over us on the way into heathrow ( sadly i had no camera with me) everyone did just look up to see it.......

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, when you have to cram that number of passengers into a large metal tube there are restrictions on what the end result eventually looks like ? the problem today is that designers have set graphs and tables to work to,the airlines just want to make more and more money with higher density air travel, time will tell if that principle will work as anticipated although Boeing think otherwise, those that buy the A380 will be pioneering the mass air carriage market.

The A380 is no more than a very expensive tool to do the job, asthetics apart she is a very well engineered aircraft, long gone are the days when aircraft had lots of character, thats why I like the old un's !

Pie in the sky,we will just have to wait and see ?

I remember very clearly how negative everyone was about the QE2 when she was launched. She was considered far too modern to be considered as a 'proper' liner.

Now she is a classic that was years ahead of her time!!!

QE2 has alway been a thing of beauty though.

too old or too new, different from too ugly or too pretty, too boring or too exciting. I don't know where i'm going with this one.

A shame that artistic flair has been killed for the sake of economy.

Comes down to choice and style...if you had a choice would you always go for the cheap option in life....you gets what you pays for.

I think the new airbus looks ugly. Made its first flight to the UK last week. It would look ok if the windscreen were bigger.

It's a bit like the RNLI's new TAMAR Class lifeboat. The designer of that need a bat to the back of his head.

I know, I know, as long as it does it job and appears when you need it (hope you never do) you shouldn't care what it looks like BUT... it doesn't say anything. :smile11:

AT least when I saw a Severn, Trent or even the Mersey Class Lifeboat (used to serve on Mersey) they sent little shivers and goosebumps all over me (am I weird? Maybe it a crew thing!). The Tamar make me want to puke. It has no graceful looks.

Nope sorry, do't do it for me and I love Lifeboats!!
