Thinking about getting one of these

    Phantom 3 drone

I'm trying to justify getting one of these, I no professional use for it I just think it's a great gadget, apart from me sat in the back garden with a few beers flying up and down what else could I use it for?

Unless you have a professional reason, I'd say use the money on more beer. From what I have read, they are almost illegal to fly anywhere.

Having said that my brother in law has one, the camera on it is bloody good. Takes great HD Video as well. Don't worry he's a prof.photographer...

You could use it to watch that erupting volcano down the road just like the add The options are endless

Or attach some hooks to it and deliver pots of paint to customers near by

Or like most after about a week store it in a cupboard never to see the light of day again John

Revell do one that's about £99 maybe not as good but a hell of a lot cheaper, it looks like they sell well, I was looking on ebay and someone has sold 39 the V2, I keep um'ing and ar'ing about it, it's just too much money but would be fun for 25 mins until I had to recharge it again

do your own deliveries, it would be great as long as all your customers live in your road

Or you could leaflet all your niebourhood with offers in the shop.

Or you could play knock door run on your neighbours

Or you could tie a thin piece of line to it and attach a pillowcase to the end and move it back and fourth I front of windows.

You can tell I had fun as a kid

I think you will find that legislation will catch up with these eventually.

When I used to build and fly R/C planes in the UK, I ( or the club) needed to have insurance and could only fly in safe areas.

Luckily living in Cyprus for several years, I was free to fly anywhere over there. (except near the bases)

If you do get one, be careful where you use it!

Read up on the regulations regarding the use of drones here http://droneflight.co.uk/pages/summary-of-uk-legal-requirements then go and have some fun with it.

I would love one of these. But, having rejected any of those wonderful gadgets like smart phones and tablets on the grounds that after a couple of months they would be shut in a drawer (I don't have a hectic life-style), the same would happen to a drone.

I have been noticing how more and more TV shots show camera angles and movements high up, turning round, moving through branches etc., all the time looking towards a target while the camera moves sideways etc. Cherry pickers can't do that. Even in a recent piece to camera on TV outside, the target (the speaker) moved but the camera kept looking at his chest (probably with a GPS transmitter hidden there) until in the end it became fixed while the speaker walked out of the frame (as film makers always like to do). That must have been a mini helicopter-mounted camera. Interesting.

On privacy, imagine how you would feel if one of these looked into one of your windows while you were sitting there and found a video in Facebook!

you could attach live weaponry to it and secretly take out your enemies.
