      The one and only time a nuclear warhead was fired.

      Don't think I would want to be downwind of the blast.

      After reading the story of Annie, it didn't take long to realise what a white elephant it turned out to be.

      The photo's show it negotiating a village in Germany where they were deployed.

      They had forgotten to take into account how small European roads could be.

      Many accidents were recorded when deploying to different sites, as they were meant to be totally mobile, never staying in one place for too long.

      Other photo's of one of the guns that is preserved.

        Have been up close and personal with this one. She's at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in the state of Maryland {a few hundred miles away} Went there many years ago and have some pics somewhere. Her name is "Atomic Annie" Leave it to us Yanks to have thought of portable tactical nukes! We should bring them back! I can think of a couple of spots that could use a bit of "Atomic Cleansing" But I won't elaborate { Ian is watching }

            Shame to see her rotting away in the out of doors as she is, I'm afraid we don't revere our military past as we should over here. Aberdeen has been slowly putting up some buildings and bringing some of the rarer vehicles in and giving them a bit of freshening up but they're always short of funds and depend on private donations for much of their budget. They did a sterling job on a Ferdinand {Elephant} and a few others.
