Bogus emails

Hi chaps


While recuperating at home I got an email alert all cosher looking etc from HMRC saying I had a rebate due of £265:64 wow I thought not bad Anf told the wife ( it asks to click the link below which is Www. Gov HMRC.co.uk )


Do not open this whatsoever


I went onto HMRC website and for security reasons they never send details via emails it's always by post.


I double checked this out and apparently this is a scam that collects all your details and can empty your account just by clicking on the link.


Beware out there.

I've had loads of these even ones saying I owe money I just delete them as I knew your always contacted by letter buts it's good post these warnings as someone might not be aware of this

The answer is never to open up emails from whom you are not aware of the identity of the sender.


Never ever any bank email as they will be 99% bogus.

Just add that some one tried to use the number on my card (they did not have the card in their possession) to buy a number of items in the approx total sum of £3000.


Bank thankfully was on the ball. Unusual activity and they stopped it.


Another tip i came across. Paypal. Use your card not a bank transfer as there is no recourse to obtain back your lolly..

HMRC is using emails more these days. To be fair they do realise the potential problem. If you go to gov.uk and put 'HMRC phishing emails' in the search box you will find your way to this page which gives clear advice.

I had the same a couple of months ago ,noticed on my statement £300 to a shop in london and £ 100 in another.thing is my card never left my wallet and I was never in london !. Tell me how they do that ,got refund from bank and changed card.
