Is anyone going to support our country this year. I will and be missing the first match because of work. I have betted in school that brazil will win because England was taken. Ill be watching it with loads of nice cold beers mabe some bitters.

yes char i will be supporting my country, i am at work also but we have a radio in the kitchen and a tv in the restaurant so hopefully its not too busy tomorrow!!!

I was quoting from the famous joke about the Lone Ranger and his faithfull Indian(Native American) companion when they were surrounded by "Redskins"( Native Americans) and were down to their last bullet. The Lone Ranger sees the helpless situation they are in and says " it looks as if we are doomed Tonto old friend." The Indian replies "what do you mean WE Kimo Sabi ?" I should have asked " Our country" ? Mine(Native Scot) didnt qualify. I hope yours do well. Maybe in the future WE will have a British team in the World Cup and we can all cheer for OUR team. :gent:

i hate football usually, well dont hate it but hate people who live their life by following it. but i do like a good kick around at the park and support my country in what ever sport/event they are going for!

John Cleese ! my comedy hero,as for football Stanley Matthews would not think much of todays game,too much about being money orientated,is someone that can kick a football around really worth that sort of money ? but if it gives pleasure to the millions of followers then so be it,they must have made a bomb out of the flag sales ? one chap in the streety here has painted has had his car painted up professionally,but noticed tonight that he has a big ding in the side ! probably someone not keeping his eyes on the road,local dustmen have been warned to take down the flags from the dustcarts,the reason..wait for it..health and safety !!!

The first match of the tournament was between the host nation and a South American team, and a good match it was.:banana:

i know it is duncan, i was pointing out that there would never be a "British" team as that would have to inlcude england, scotland, wales and n.ireland!

and if that were the case tomorrow we wouldnt be playing paraguay we would be playing S.America, a scary mixture of brazil, paraguay, ecuador and argentina!!!

when it comes to football there is no love lost between Scotland and England, I would be very surprised if there is anyone in Scotland cheering on England, there was something on the news the other day that a pub in Scotland bought 10 Paraguay flags and have themed the pub in their colours
