Well for most people today will pass relatively unoticed, unless it's your birthday or you are getting married, however today for me marks ten years of being a member of this forum.

I think therefore it is a time to reflect just for a brief moment what we have here. I have been a member of other forums and seen many come and go over this time but this one always seems to remain fairly consistent in it's activities. I have seen many members come and go over the years, some more positive than others, however what continues to surprise me is how the overall atmosphere has always remains friendly, welcoming and encouraging and I'm convinced that this is the key to its continued success. Whether this is as a result of over moderation, under moderation or simply just a collection of like minded modellers I'm still not sure but I also think the influence of site owner John in the background plays no small part in this.

In the ten years I've seen many stuning models built and enjoyed seeing an interchange of ideas and suggestions from young and old and been aware of just how many modellers have been helped by others on here. This is quite an achievement. We have also seen John take the very brave step of setting himself up in business and, in a short time, establish himself as an extreemly well respected internet based vendor who proves on a daily basis that customer service is still as relevent on line as it is in a shop.

What I think I take away from it though is the fact that, with an appropriate degree of respect for each others differening opinions on a subject, we can still have threads that get overheated without them being alowed to spoil the overall friendliness we have here. I hope we can all continue to respect each others differing opinions and maintain the superb facility we all enjoy here.

Many thanks to each and every one of you for adding to my life and contributing to my entertainment for so long.

    Here's to the next ten!

I havent been a member on any other forums before here so cant really compare but i have heard enough stories to know that ours is pretty much unique in its friendliness. Only 6 years for me - off & on! But I still remember your old avatar Richard & the line from the John Masefield poem you had

It was a rather different forum in those days, rather like a country high street whereas now we're seeing a bustling shopping center!

The poem is still there Patrick but I sometimes wonder whether Popeye was a better avatar. We went through a phase of showing ourselves to everyone so we could see just who we were speaking to so a picture does have merit.

The poem was my father's favorite so I use it in memory of him as much as anything else. I also think it is a cracking line!

Ah yes, its because I'm usually on my phone that means I don't see it!

It's an excellent line, very evocative - I've now read a few of Masefield's poems from that exposure

Nice sentiment, I rarely use forums because I'm one of those annoying folk who likes being around folk who discuss rather than argue and treat each other with some respect instead of the usual lad slagging and arguing.

As long as it stays opinionated but peaceful I'll keep coming back. If someone didn't like a model or doesn't think it's great it's still nice to be positive in either criticism or encouragement on lessons learned and experience gained.

                Congratulations Richard!

Ten years is a long time...you have seen members come and go, but you still here, and this, is a very important point as well

Patience and believe on this project and forum!

I've been here just 4 years now!!

Thank you to you, and all, for your help and patience during this time. And for your confidence that I can help all the members of this forum as a mod.

I wishing to see your next ten!!

                Best regards

Very nice summing up Richard and exactly and I repeat exactly as I see the forum.

Love the respect on here. You can disagree and I have no doubt that some, I do, get annoyed

but there is a tremendous respect here for peoples views.

I would also add, a point which is of very great importance, the humour is just damn funny at times

I am just reduced to sitting here and giggling. May seem to be a light weight thing but humour is the

catalyst which brings people to their senses, it oils the wheels. And it is here.

Also add that it is very nice to see the support given to members who are not doing so well.

We all need that at times and I think there is great humility displayed here.
