Over the handlebars.....Twice in under an hour!!!!!!

I came a double cropper on Saturday afternoon whilst out on me' mountain bike with some mates.

We went out cross country - via a pub or two and I tried to be clever en-route, failed, went over the front of the bike, hurt my shoulder and skimmed my knee....... Got back on.

Within a few miles, I skidded on some loose gravel and over the front I goes again!

Really clouted myself. Damaged my ribs, bad bruising to my hip. Took the skin off the top of both shoulders and skimmed my other knee. Worst thing was I destroyed my bezzie 'T' Shirt and bent my 'Helmet'!!

All is not lost though 'cos although I'm too sore and stiff to drive, I can still make models, so this morning I started making me a diorama...I'll post it up tomorrow.

    I'm really o.k so don't worry...

    Yours faithfully,

Abraham Lincoln - just off to the theatre with the wife.

    To many pubs then Ron.

Just wait until you are hit by a racing car at 45mph. Pelvic fractured in 3 places,

chipped vertebrae and near 50% of blood decanted into pelvis chamber.

    Bloody hell it hurt.

Ouch I feel your pain. Good to hear your ok

A while back I took my new mountain bike over to a place called Cannock Chase, in my eagerness I still had my SPD peddles on and whilst going down a very steep incline I clipped the edge. I couldn't release my feet quick enough and went head over heels.

I lay there for a minute or two and then felt a warm wet sensation by my kidneys, I reached round to find no blood but my energy drink had exploded under me

After a while I made my way back to the top of the hill and mounted my bike, about 300 metres later what I thought was a branch on the path sprang forward, it was a snake!!!! I swerved hit the side of the path and came off again.

I decided then to walk back to my car!!

I love my bike but some days I should go play golf !

I feel for you, I used to pushbike everywhere in my youth then found motorcycles rode them for years, not a single accident, then in a fitness spree bought a pushbike broken collar bone within a week then cut my groin open, then broke my fingers, finally smashed my head on the road and gave myself a concusion went back to motorcycles, not another single accident, those blooming dangerous push bikes should be banned.

Broken too many bones on my mountain bike. This year was ribs. Lucky work was quiet so no loss there.

Will never give up the bike even if it cheats on me with other bikes * see attached *

I don't know! All those years of practise and experience - wasted! P'raps you shoulda spent them learning how to drink instead of how to ride a bike!

Like the man (Robert Heinlein) said: "Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors - and miss."

They say these things come in threes so what you gonna do for number three? Poke yourself in the eye with your paintbrush while painting your Zulus?

Still, it coulda been worse. Glad to hear nothin's permanently broke.

I dont know, I can just Imagine Justine rolling her eyes and shaking her head , saying something under her breath! Hope youre Ok matey , nothing seriously damaged but the pride ! The trouble with these mountain bikes is people insist on taking them up mountains ! far better to go to somehwere flat and soft , actually the pub car park isnt a bad place to start (and finish , leave it there and wobble home on shank's pony!!!) What you need to do is take up a far safer hobby such as building models , nothing dangerous about that ( oh , except the sharp knives , and the dodgy chemicals , and the dust, and .. ) ....actually youre probably safer falling off the bike! trouble is it makes me want to add some excitement to my life too , I'm off to join the local Naked Nettle Snorkelling club , cheers Tony
