    Clarifying posting messages

I don`t wan`t to start a row but can we have some clarification on what we can say and what we can`t say when we post ,

I totally understand Johns thinking with a build that was done a while back and someone posting - thats nice - and then it goes back to the top of the latest posts ,

but when someone is doing a build that is under construction are we not allowed to post ie - looking good or similar ? or if someone finished a build ages ago and someone does a search or a new member does a search and posts ? also thanking people - be it a new build or an old build how does that work does it mean a private message ?

I'm not aware of regulations concerning posting on builds under construction. If there is I'll wait for the infringement notices to come through the post

Speaking personally its nice to get feedback while doing a build thread, you at least know people are looking in!!!

There are no rules that I know of either, we have had people in the past not like the one word replies to a post and would prefer something more constructive but that's not always needed.

When I made the comments about the views vs replies it wasn't meant to be a don't post if you think "it's looking good" it was and example of short posts which some don't like, personally I don't mind as it keeps the thread alive.

I have to say is there something in the water nowadays, we seem to be getting very tetchy, even to the point recently of someone threatening to leave, and having the post locked. Peace brothers and sisters, calm let's not start another row (I can see this going this way, if we're not careful) I like to think of this as the friendliest forum on the net. Come on now let's not jump on an innocent comment. Chillllllllllll.

One problem is how comments on this media can be misconstrued. Face to face we have body language and I was once told that body language is 80% of communication, hence something said to someone to their face can be received totally differently to if it was communicated only via an on-line post. People can therefore get upset where no upset was intended.

We all have to remember this and try to make sure we word things an an appropriate way for this media and not how we would normally say them. Some people are also more naturally erudite and can find the right way to say things in this media while others not so much.

I know that in other places and when discussing more controvercial subjects I really get 'up the noses' of certain people!!!! I have sometime been left wondering why someone has got so upset with me....other times I know and its deliberate!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I tread a less confrontational path on modelling forums though.......

I always only put a 2/3 word reply in UC threads , I can't really say much else

I know "Looks nice" isn't a very constructive post....but if we read between the lines, the message is "Hey mate! I'm here, and I like what you are doing!"

And this is very important, as well

This feeling keep the forum active and united

I don't mind how short the posts are on my builds, it lets me know I'm not alone and no-ones flat lined

As for me posting I tend just to comment on stuff that catches my eye and appeals to me, otherwise I could be sprouting a load of rubbish
