    decalfix and acrylic paints

Hi all, I've read somewhere that humbrol decalfix ruins acrylic paint jobs, anyone had problems with these two? Will putting humbrol clear down help? Thanks, Billy.

It can leave a mark but it goes when you put a matt clear coat on , but if you use microsol instead it won't leave a mark and it's better

So put the matt clear on after its all done? I've got revell decal soft, that's the same as microsol I think, but the guy in the model shop said don't use that and just use decal fix?

Decal fix is meant to provide a good surface for the decal to adhere to, in the same way as Microset does. Decal soft acts like Microsol, softening the decal to conform to surface textures.

I'd add some Humbrol Clear to where the decals are going to give a nice smooth surface & avoid any silvering.

But leave the Clear for at least 24 hours to cure before applying the decals.

I used decal fix on Lucy's Fiesta, it was on Lacquer paint and it does recommend you wash off excess with water if I remember right? I would do this as it does leave subtle marks if you don't. It does seem to be a good product for releasing decals from the decal sheet and for affixing them and I would recommend it - seemed to stay on the model well before sliding decal on - didn't bead up and run off etc... Decals fixed on really well too.
