Huge Aircraft carrier

Duncan, just been having a nose around the archives and read that you have a huge model of an aircraft carrier thats big enough for you to sit in and float???

any chance of you getting some pictures up? would love to see it!!!

lol, i remember a thread about them a while back!!! but i never knew someone on this forum had one and i have also never seen an aircraft carrier one!!! is their litle viewing holes in the superstructure or something?

RJ you will find her on page 6 in the Gallery of www.warshipmodelsunderway.com Check page 13 for a similar sized Graf Spee. No peep-holes, I`ve got sit with my head up out the aft hangar lift but can duck down out sight for limited periods. Cheap CCTv with monitor would handy for steering while filming etc. The Sea Harriers are 1/24 th Airfix kits modified, Sea Kings are scratch-built. Yep Bunkie, mostly local, havent been south of the border for a couple of years. Got side-tracked a bit with other things. Flying AP models mostly. If anybody has fat wallet I might flog it. Too old to be arsed. Dont ask the price, waiting for a rich Arab sheik !

This is the one that started life as a half hull promotional vessel on a flat bed trailer for the Royal Navy recruitment drive isn't it ??.

I've seen her up at the Portsoy festival and she is HUGE. Hope to see her again.

The very same Davie. Havent even been to Portsoy recently even though it is in my backyard nearly.( compared to the requests to take it to Portsmouth or Plymouth etc) Nice event, traditional boats have that something about them, good crack in the harbourside pub too ! Are you with the local model boat club with the swimming pool, cant remember it`s name ?

I'll be joining the Tarlair MBC once i've got my first trawler model ready to sail ( thats the club at MacDuff ). Do you still store her at the Museum of Flight ?? That was really my back yard up till a few years ago. I used to live in Longniddry only a few miles away.

As for what the mini-ship's worth ( well its hardly a model "scale" is it lol ) if people can get £500+ for "large r/c" boats of 48" on Ebay then you should be able to buy a house lol.

£500, nah seen them go for £5000 on non eBay auctions, but alas they dont sell them by the inch. No it is not at East Fortune, only there for one winter,had to move out to let Concorde in ! It resides in a sheep-shed near Inverness with a tarp over it during winter months. Doesnt half pong what with bilge water and sheep sh... , droppings and urine. Migrating Starlings and Pigeons constantly bombard it with guano making the tarp unusable until it has been submerged in the River Findhorn for a couple of days. Tarlair is a good club with a lot of fishing boat heritage and North Sea Oil related (full size) seafarers. Some bonny models. What is your interests Trawlers and fishing fleet, any pics of your projects ?

I'm from a fishing family , we had the last of the "proper" trawlers to fish out of Aberdeen ( the David John A169 a Spinningdaleclass 87ft sidewinder ) and i've got a veritable fleet of hulls to build. I'm going to start with a conversion of the Model Slipways Maggie M kit into the Buckie Registered Deeside BCK595 , then i've got 2 hulls & packs from Dave Metcalf at 1/50th scale ( Norina stern trawler and Edwina sidetrawler ) , a 1/32nd scale steam drifter hull & plans , a couple of hulls off Ebay ( one a 32" stern trawler that will be built as an inshore trawler / scalloper and the other a 36" hull and deck for a Campbeltown 75 or 80 class seiner ). As well as numerous warship kits ( Kiev , Sovremenny , Udalloy , KGV , USS Seawolf - will be static diving conversion , and a few more hiding in various cupboards, etc ).

I'll be putting up photo's once I get them started which won't be till October as I run a wargaming club and we're just about to start our summers campaign so my work tables covered in scenery and 28mm figures !!

but i do have the Norina, and The river Dee ( port knockie registered) stern trawlers.
