    1/35 v 1/32 Figures

I know this has been dealt with before but can't find the thread.

I know that we all differ in height & size, but will the difference in the above be very noticeable in a diorama?

Over to the knowledgeable on here please.

Yeah I'm afraid it does , I tried it a little while ago and there's about a cm difference in height and the bodies are out of proportion, it's like putting a 13 year old next to a six footer

Thanks Alan, just trying to find some decent figures to go on my 'Atomic Annie' The ones provided with the kit look like a cross between the 'Walking Dead' & 'Aliens'

I found some US period 1/35 figures that have just the right postures for the above.

Ah well! back to the drawing board.

I have to agree with Alan,so hard to mix and match figures, even brands are different in size from dragon to MB,

oh lol that,s so funny but you right a mix of Walking Dead' & 'Aliens',always good for a zombie dio,

I know its more to spend, but look for a set of figuers you like, and use them, even if it means buying two sets,

I have the same thing happen all the time,o_O

Hi Greg just thought I'd add to this thread with two figs to show difference in size like Alan said

First pic is of 1/35 tank commander 2nd pic is of 1/32 pilot and you can see the difference in proportion of height and girth etc

            Hope this helps

...but the question is...is that a tall pilot or a short tank commander?

I agree that you can't mix 1/32 and 1/35 figures in the same diorama, whichever of the two scales it is. I think putting 1/35 figures alone in a 1/32 diorama (or vice versa) works perfectly well. Whilst all the 1/35 figures in a 1/32 diorama will be slightly undersized the difference is slight and I would defy anybody to notice.

The difference in height for a 1.8m high man in the two scales is just under 5mm, not 1cm. It's about the difference between a 5'6" and 6' tall man. I've seen bigger variations in height for figures from different manufacturers purporting to be in the same scale!

                  Cheers

To add a little more frustration to this topic, you can't always rely on same-scale figures to be similar sizes either. Try mixing 1/35 Dragon and Tamiya figures, by comparison the Tamiya figures are really small, and comparing the pilot figures in my 'How to paint pilots' thread shows the variation in 1/32 figures too.

                    Cheers

Just read Steve's last post so I'm sorry for going over old ground!

For what it's worth 1/32 is sometimes referred to as 54mm.

                      Cheers

Which would be a very average 1.73m tall man. That's about 5'8" or 5'9" in old money ,I think.

At 1/35 scale a 54mm man would be 1.90m tall which is a tall, just over 6'', man.

The point is that as long as all the figures are in the same scale (and preferably from the same manufacturer) they will fit into a diorama in any either scale.

I've used railway scale ( OO ) figures that work out at 1/76 in 1/72 dioramas and nobody has ever said that they look a bit small

                        Cheers
