                Wow, sad to hear.

How about this: have you thought of trying a stand up work station? Lots of businesses are switching to them for the health benefits. Sitting too much is bad for anybody and worse fro those with back problems.

Problem is Brett, I cannot stand for long periods either. So just have to try and balance things. Unfortunately with my back going I cannot do either very well at the moment. Thanks for your concern and the tips.

Sorry to hear this Si. I can empathise with you as my wife suffers from FM, COPD & arthritis.

I know it makes life very difficult for you to find any lasting position to relieve the pain/discomfort.

It does sometimes make it difficult for others to understand what your going through.

Hoping you return to the fold soon, keep your chin up.

Si have you thought of a full body transplant, I hear the Chinese have managed to graft a frogs head on a mouses body, course you would have to lower your bench quite a bit, doing all those small bits would be easier as it would be like working 1/1 scale, you would have to get your missus to stock up on cheese and crackers and of course you would need to replace your duvet with saw dust but I think they are small prices to pay.

Hope the back recovers soon, don't know if it will help with your condition but a friend of mine with a back problem has a thing he stands in, straps his feet in and then inverts so he is hanging upside down for about 10 minutes to stretch out the back. Similar to the one below:
