Hi all well I'm back from my first show (couldn't fit the warspite dio on the table so left it in the car) there was no judging at the show, which I am glad about as I felt embarrassed putting my rubbish on the table, compared to what was there mine looked like it was cobbled together by a monkey. I did buy a couple of goodies but will never take any of my c"+p to a show, and before you say I'm being too hard on myself, no one gave any of my models more than a cursory glance, all my stuff did was just pad the space on the tables out.
Just back from the Norex model show

Ken, I've seen the threads on your completed builds, and they're shockingly realistic!
Are you sure you didn't turn up to a science convention where people had shrunk real vehicles?? Because that's the only way I can see your models looking inferior!!Comment

The trouble is I think the photos make my models look better than they are, to be fare I think if I still had the La Reale or the two bikes I sold maybe they would have looked better, but still like I said there was no judging so that was good.Comment

The only comment I did get was on the Stephenson's rocket dio which I was told that's a bit gruesome, I replied it the rt hon hesskeson to which he replied and you can't even get that right he's leg was cut off he wasn't cut in half. I was going to say that's artistic licence but thought it a waste of my breath and time.Comment

Dont be so hard on yourself Ken , I and plenty of folks on here think your stuff is great. You say that they only got a cursory glance but I bet more people looked than you think . Its important that people go to these shows and exhibit ,especially when its stuff thats rarely seen or outstandingly original like your Christine dio , variety is the spice of life and all that. As for the plonker that was disrespecting your Rocket , unfortunately you get some of them at the shows too , but hes probably never made a model in his life -just gets a buzz out of putting other people down . I hope you dont value his opinion and take heed of the support and comments you get on here and keep on being original and enjoying what you do - we certainly do , cheers tonyComment

Ken, if you hadn't met the guy who said he only lost his leg and not been cut in half, you'd have met the guy who would blame you for not showing all the anatomical details of his severed torso! Tony's right unfortunately, there's a*******s like that everywhere - best to just do what you like and ignore them.Comment

Main thing is Ken is that you've got the balls to go to a show and set up your models for the viewing public to see in all their glory. I've never exhibited at a show and doubt I ever will but I've been to a few shows and I've always shown an interest in virtually every model on show even if I'm not remotely interested in a particular subject, I just appreciate the effort that's gone in to the models on show and how far some of these people have travelled to put on a show. The last thing people need is destructive criticism and to be patronised but the bumptious twits who have little or no understanding of the intricacies and logistics of getting said models to the show for them to see.
I think Ken that you deserve to give yourself a very large pat on your back and congratulate yourself for your effort.Comment
