When I was at college everything went between two large thick slices of white bread, favorite was steak and kidney pie, chips and peas with a spoon of gravy but a close second was fish fingers chips and beans!

Boy we knew how to live then!

Another favourite is white fluffy bread well buttered laced with Kettle Crisps.

The crackle of the crisps as you grab the sandwich gets my taste buds dancing.

Also when I am feeling anti cholesterol slices of bread with about 6 lettuce leaves

laced with salt and pepper. If really hungry sprinkled with a lid full of vinegar. That

is really heaven. Glass Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough.. The simple life.

Just come home and I'm waiting for dinner, this thread has got my belly rumbling!

Sausage and bacon between doorsteps with HP sauce.

Saying that I have probably had more cheese and pickle granary sandwiches than anything else.

The misus does a mean egg salad and pepper mixed jobbie which I wouldn't dream of doing but it's lovely.

The most unhealthy one that I can't help getting every time I go to my local cafe at work is a crispy bacon, cheese, tomato, jalapeño, mayo and pepper all toasted in a ciabatta.... Bad but delicious!

Wow. I feel like I am reading recipes in a different language. Half of this stuff doesn't make a lick of sense to these colonial ears....

Anyway, here are a couple of my favorites:

Peanut butter and Miracle Whip (like mayo, but sweeter) on white or full grain bread.

Tri-tip on a toasted roll with Mo's Sweet Carolina BBQ sauce.

Good old BLT on wheat or squaw bread with a bit of mayo.

At the end of the working week, I treat myself to smoked salmon, in a brown roll. It tells me, the weekend is nearly here.
