    Might sell my car stash.

Hi peeps, I'm seriously thinking about selling my car stash, I've had so many paint cock ups recently that I'm wary of starting another. OK I've had a few successes with the GT500, cobra and charger but even with those I had balls up with them, the GT500 got painted and stripped 3 times before it was finished so was the Cobra, I had no end of troubles with the charger and now most recently is the straw that broke this donkey's back, namely my 59 impala, I've just spent five days struggling to get the finish right and even then I never achieved it, I stripped it one more time and lost my rag with it. It's now residing in the bin. I don't want the rest to end up in the same place. I want to blame the paint, the airbrush, the weather, the whatever else I can blame, just not me.............I suffer from depression and the last thing I want to do is blame myself, I've had a lifetime of blame from myself or other sources and I certainly don't want to add to it.

I have more success with matt and satin paints, I've just airbrushed a Chieftain with matt paint using my airbrush and the finish is faultless, it's the gloss paint that is catching me out.

    In my stash I have.......

    53 Corvette

    67 Corvette

    99 C5-R Corvette

    Shelby GT350H

    68 Camaro ss

    07 Mustang GT500

    57 Chevrolet Belair convertible

    68 Mustang GT

    Sox and Martin Plymouth GTX

    68 Corvette Rebel racer

All the above are Revell 1/24 - 25th scale.

I also have a Moebius 52 Hudson Hornet convertible in 1/24

Not sure it's worth selling them, if I don't sell them then I can't buy a different model as I have to sell something to buy something, unfortunately I'm not in a position to keep my stash and add to it with a different kind of model.

I've kind of hit the buffers today.......bit of a crap day really.

Never mind, tomorrow is another day

Chin up Dave! Why not whack a few on eBay & use the proceeds to buy a top-quality armour kit? I can offer some suggestions that are a positive joy to build also consider Russian armour coz if you mess up the painting, they can be covered with rust & muck and no-one will question it!

I've suffered from depression these past 15 years or so & I have the perfect coping strategy for modelling mistakes ....blame them on someone else! :P

Seems like a great idea mate. Thanks for the support. Much appreciated.

I'm thinking of changing tack, looking at maybe armour, also I might have another crack at figure modelling, I used to have some of verlindens very good models. I quite like the idea of Dragon 1/16 (120mm) figures, a lot cheaper than verlindens stuff.

Unfortunately I don't do eBay anymore as I recently got ripped to the tune of £3.500 thanks to a unscrupulous dealer on there hacked my bank account.

If I were to sell I would probably do it via here, not sure yet.

What would you recommend as good subjects for a start in armour Patrick? I've done some Shermans in the past but they are fairly easy subjects to do!

Ebay nightmare! thankfully I've never had anything like that happen, touch wood

As for a recommendation, I'd steer clear of most Dragon stuff. Not because they're rubbish, coz they're not! But their instructions are bewildering at times which can lead to mucho frustration

I'd go for Bronco, the one's I've built are very high quality with glossy booklets for instructions, excellent fit & superbly molded parts. Their KV-85 or ISU 152 are simply gorgeous kits (although the individual tracks are a mini kit in themselves!)

Trumpeter kits are similar, if a bit simpler. Still good quality parts & molding, just less bits to build.

Meng kits are good too, I've their T-10 in my stash & it looks a great kit.

However, the one from my experience that's leaping out at me is the Tamiya Pershing. It's an accurate, easy build - absolutely no filler needed!

Here's the one I did a few years ago - not one of my best (look at that rubbish mud on the skirts!)

but you can have fun with your airbrush doing different shades of green, getting some colour modulation going

Meng armour kits are absolutely top notch and a real stonking build. I have done a couple. The most recent was the T90-A and that is a really first class kit.

Thanks mate, I was happy with it at the time, but now I look back & see what I'd do differently (or better!).
