Review If Dragons M1a1 With Mine Plough

Hi all I am in the process of building dragons 1/35 M1A1 with mine plough, now I will say at the start that this builds into a very nice kit, the fit of the parts are not too bad at all with some sections that need to be drilled out. As usual dragons detailing is very nice, they have even added the anti slip effect to the panels on the upper hull and turret which when painted looks nice, the plough also adds to the Abrams. However, I cannot abide over engineered kits which is something dragon seem to be famous for and sections of this one are no exception.

The rear stowage rack takes a dozen pieces to complete and the parts are quite fragile and soft. Iam sure this could have been done with a lot less parts, the mine plough is another such part of this kit. Ithink I will build tamiyas version to see the difference, I have to say because of the over engineering in this kit it sucked all the fun out of it for me, now dragons instructions are as very vague in places and could quite easily confuse beginner s never mind people who have built quite a few kits. This is something dragon need to sort out, however as I have previously stated it does build into a nice kit.

It does look like it builds into a nice model Scott, and Dragon's instructions are notoriously bad! Even a fairly recent release (mid production Tiger) has had me scratching my head on many occasions

From looking at the box, I'd guess that this is one of their older kits, perhaps a 90s or early naughties release which might account for the soft plastic.

Looking forward to seeing this one finished
