      Howdy Miss Aerynpk,

Well, currently I am off work due to a herniated and 2 buldging disk in my neck, I have had 2 of 3 epidural steroid injections into my spine at my neck and will probably spend the last part of my time off recovering from neck surgery if the shots dont work lol (but I hope not).

it gives me time to build models.

      have a good day,

      Greg

wouldn't 1/72 always be the same size?

I'm off to Southhampton and Legoland next week, but when I get back hopefully I will get time to go out with my cars

oh John you can meet up with guy, get him to show you behind the scenes!!!

Char...dont mean to gloat but i have been off since June 9th :P

to be honest i have not touched a model in the past week and a half, even with my fan on full power it has just been too hot to sit in my room and do models (my rooms is south facing...has it perks!)

persuading my dad to clear out the shed and let me set up a workbench in there. Wouldnt be hard to sort out a ventialtion system.

am correct in thinking if you give a building outside electricity (as in plugs and things) you need planning permission for it?

That's news to me Richard however it does need to comply with the current IEE Regs so you would be looking at either buried armoured or conduited cable or an overhead catenary.

I put a cable into our shed using armoured cable from the back of a socket in the lounge then I ran the same stuff out and round to the pond for the fopuntain. lights etc. I was lucky as I used to do outside installations in the ski industry so I knew a bit about using armoured cable but it isn't difficult.

Greg, sorry to hear about your neck problems, but model building is one of the very best of therapies,a modeller is never bored because he always has so much to complete, this is where the kit stash comes in handy.

Well my sheds have been strung with electric cables for more years than I care to remember, the golden rule on any outdoor cabling is always make sure that there is a working trip switch.

Use best quality exterior grade cable with no external joints.

The only time that I had a problem was when I purchased some exibition standard cable, nobody told me that it was only for a single use then they throw the stuff away, anyway I remember the bang ! moisture must have got in somewhere and it blew a big hole into the cable,as I say it was the onlyy time it happened, another interesting story about outside electrics was when I was working for a mobile home company, the showground had outside lighting on each van on show, you pushed the cable through rubber grommets into a metal tube, then slid it up towards the fitting with another grommet a push fit over the top, they kept blowing, investigation showed that condensation was getting into the cable ends,a quick fix was silicone grease, never had a single bit of bother afterwards ?

As mentioned before the golden rule with any outside installation is to have a trip switch, and to test the trip every now and again.

A shed without power is like bread without honey.
