    Old memories...

GW: Yes, I know what the prices are now - Yikes!!

I still have a collection of Airfix Magazine, which I had a subscription to for a long time, which still make good reading and are also a good resource for pictures and info. I have been in this hobby WAAY TO LONG!!, but it sure has been fun :-) And to think all this started because Bunkerbarge wanted to find an old plastic kit. Have a good nite all.

    Later,

    Fred Z.

Richard,I may just do a small version diorama as you describe and take some photographs with some built up models in the background, this would be an ideal 'social history shop display' for one of these specialised museums we have around the country, but to create something at home to photograph, and above all to show the younger generation what we were faced with would be a good project.

Had better dig those kits out !

There used to be smaller seaside shops of F.W.Woolworths who had small counter spaces,so perhaps one of those could be used as a basis, what a good idea you have sparked off,and by the way also in my collection is Airfix leaflet No.1,a very spartan thing a far cry from the catalogues of today.

That sound superb Barry, I'd love to see a picture of that first leaflet.

Fredz, if you have the same interest as me in old Aifix stuff have you got a copy of the new Airfix book? I don't have the details to hand but I could find them out for you and it is an incredibly interesting book.

Nigel, that is the guy in the story who sold the Kestrel I had seen. I still keep an eye on his site as he has some interesting items occassionally. Thanks for the link anyway.

Barry, that project sounds really interesting and as a snapshot of social history would be invaluable. I would appreciate a scan, certainly for interest and posterity.

The galleries work fine as well Barry. There are not a great number of pictures there but some interesting shots of a collection of aircraft.
