The Paper Model invasion has begun!

Hi, all. Just want to stop by and introduce myself. I have been building models [mostly aircraft] since I was about nine years old - LONG TIME!! This has included balsa, plastic and now mostly card models - planes, trains, boats and the occasional building. Started plastics in the early 1950's and soon discovered Airfix 'baggie kits'. Card models came along in the mid 1960's when a modeling buddy brought back a stack from his Army service in Germany. Still have some of them! Started R/C flying in the mid 1970's and still do some. I can usually be found on Cardmodels.net, which is where I found out about this place. Should be an interesting place to hang out. Be talking to you all.

Hi Fredz and a very warm welcome to the forum. Quite an interesting range of experiences so far!

I see you share my fond memories of Airfix bagged kits, they provided me with many hours of enjoyment in my teenage years.

Hello Fred and welcome, there certainly is a familiar pattern there with your interests over the years, many here were weened on the Airfix series, pocket money was saved up for the then 2/- (two bob) bagged kits,Airfix have gone down in the annals of modelling history for those very wise moves back then.

Just look how sophisticated kits are today, and all because a household bucket manufacturer were asked by Massey Ferguson to do the moulds for that little grey tractor model, this model is now a legend in itself.
