Vallejo Model Air - Air War Series....

A lot of us use VMA but though their range is extensive there are some significant gaps (Fleet Air Arm Dark Slate Grey for instance) in addition some of their colours seem a bit wrong, not that we all get overly fussed about this.

The good news is that they are bring out a whole range of new 'Air War Series' VMA paints with a lot of new colours filling gaps and correcting some errors of the past.

There are 17 new sets and in the RAF/FAA ones I have managed to i.d. about 15 new shades including a 'corrected' dark earth, the old one being a bit dark. I had to do this by looking at an enlarged pic of the sets and seeing the VMA 71.xxx numbers that dont appear in the old chart. So the information is a bit sketchy at the moment regarding the full make up of all the sets, specially as they have not brought out a new colour chart with them yet. They make a really convenient way to access the right paints.

These could be a good development.

sadly, I cannot get on with Vallejo and only use them for brush painting now, what few survived the cull. Not saying they are bad or wrong, just that I don't get on with them so probably my fault not Vallejo.

good to see them addressing the gaps though. Time Tamiya re looked at their paint range. I know they brought out a new RAF set of three when they did the big Spitfire but their range is limited.

no wonder Mig is jumping on the bandwagon.

This is great news as I love VMA paints I'll be getting these for sure.

Regarding your problems Graham with the paint I feel it's nothing to do with yourself or the paint probably just your set up up as mine are sprayed straight from the bottle with no magical tricks in the process of doing so.

Guess I just got lucky were that's concerned. But I do have slight problems worth humbrol and tamiya and have to tinker with these and take many deep breaths in the process. So what you lose on the swings you gain on the roundabouts

I used there us navy set the other week on an a-4 and got admit they spayed very nicely indeed and great looking finish.... will in time try pick up a few more... the only downside is there not all available as single bottles so if run out then may have to get another set just for 1-2 colours...... but very impressed

I'm a Vallejo model air fan and these are a great addition to their collection, saying that since using mr color i feel I'm going to struggle to pull myself away from them. In my opinion they are better colour match (from what I've used so far) and are a dream to work with.

Actually Phil better colour matching is what this new range of VMA is designed to address.
