    Flipping useless Royal Mail!

So I'm waiting for my Jagdpanzer to arrive. The eBay seller posted it 2nd class recorded on Monday & I reckoned it would be delivered today. So I arranged things to make sure I'd be in today.

Waited & waited, then checked the RM website. Turns out an 'attempted' delivery was done this morning at..

    ... 0637!!

Now have you ever heard in recent times of posties being out that early? Usually I see them still on their rounds at gone 6pm as I'm going home!

What makes it worse is that I was up at 0600 & no-one rung my bell!

Now I've got to dash to the sorting office tomorrow at 8am or wait till Monday.

And the Royal Mail wonder why they're in danger of being privatised , can't happen too soon in my book

I agree, useless at times. Many a time we have had a card through the letter box despite us being in and never hearing them knock. And that time is just unheard off, we get our mail from 10 am up to 3 pm.

I've never had post that early in a morning.

Your lucky if you get a card, I must say I have very little go missing but when someone rings up asking where their order is, the first thing I tell them to do is go to their local sorting office, 99 times out of 100 it's there and they never got a card through the door.

I have had the postman knock very gently on the door early in morning only just heard it. They said they didn't want to knock too loud in case they woke someone up!!!

I have to say that the posties we have are outstanding. Usually they knock on a neighbours door or, with my permission, leave it in a safe place. Whichever, they always leave a card telling me where it is. Only occasionally does a temp or stranger take it back to sorting office. My main beef is with couriers......, no.... Yodel!

I saw a Yodel chap run to the door, one knock and run back to the van. Fortunately, even with me buggered knees, I got to him before he drove off.

On the other side of the coin, a courier that sadly I cannot remember the name, sent me an email to say within an hour when a parcel would be delivered. I was at work and my neighbour was away. I emailed back asking it to be left in the same safe place postie leaves things in. I got an email back thanking me for updating and then, within ten minutes of the expected delivery time, I got an email with a picture of the card that he put through the door confirming where the parcel had been left and a picture of the parcel in the safe place.

It is so rare I am in when parcels are delivered, one of the ironies of retiring soon is that I will be in to receive them but not being able to afford to order anything

As a retired postman there's no way you should have had an attempted delivery at that time what's probably happened is the postman has seen a large packet and left the packet at the office assuming no one was going to be in. Bad I know but it happens.

bit like the time i was sat there and saw the red van pull up, he ran up the path with the 'you wernt in' card, shoved it through the letter box, ran back to the van and roared off before i could get to the door..................guess it had nothing to do with it being a saturday morning and the sooner they have finished the round the sooner they finish

We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no ones been

This has happened to me a couple of times. Why not ring the bell when you have to write out the silly little card anyway? I've always subsequently checked my door bell to make sure it is working and it has been, every time. Very odd!

BTW our regular postman usually calls at around 8.00 am, which is fine. He has never let us down as far as I know, he always seems to operate the door bell successfully. It's hardly sending men to Mars We are quite close to a sorting office so maybe we are at the start of his round.

                Cheers

I have had this and it bugs me as I've paid to have it delivered. On more than one occasion this has happened - a card when we were in and the postie running off asap
