    Tonight's the night!!!

Having met Scott (noble) I know he is a quiet and unassuming kind of bloke and he probably wouldn't post this, so I have taken the liberty of doing just that....

A few weeks ago he posted on here that he had been invited to show his models and give a talk on them to his local R.C. model boat club, based at The Boat Museum, Ellesmere Port, Wirral, Merseyside. Well, tonight's the night!

He has also given me the honour of accompanying him and asked that I bring some of my own stuff along.

We will of course be giving 'Scale Models' and John's shop a big plug!

So let's wish Scott all the best for his presentation.

Would you would believe it, the time is 6.45 and I'm to be there at 7.30.....

I have just put Radio 2 on and the M53 where the Boat Museum is, is blocked solid by an accident!!!

According to Sally Traffic, the queue is back to the M56 junction, where I go past. I just don't know how I'm going to get there on time, if at all!

Scott and I didn't exchange phone numbers either............What a time for this to happen.

7.00 pm and the traffic is still stationary on the 53, the area around Ellesmere Port will be grid locked....so that's me, I'm stuffed.

The accident is on the North side and as Scott will be travelling South, he will hopefully miss the snarl up. I hope so, 'cos he thoroughly deserves the opportunity to show his superb models to an appreciative audience. I just wish I could have been there to support him. Perhaps next time.......

Thanks for the good wishes chaps.

All worked out fine. I didn't want to let Scott down, so I decided to take a chance and go the back roads and try and avoid the worst of the traffic. I arrived at the venue an hour late, but the main thing was I met up with Scott.

Great to see him again. I will leave it to him to fill in the details of the night.

                  Cheers,

                  Ron

Glad you made it and I hope that it was a great evening.

Its quite funny as I was only thinking about this Monday wondering when it was going down.

Yo Tony, thanks to you and others for their posts, I took a detour which made me an hour late. Poor Scott was in the 'Mastermind chair'!

As it was his bash I won't say any more and hope he spots this thread. I'll leave it a few days for him to post summat, if not then I will post a brief report on the goings on....

                          Cheers mate,

                          Ron

Hi all just want to start by saying a big thanks to all the well wishers and also a huge thanks to Ron for coming, he saved my neck. The night went well i thought although i have to say that i was not questioned as much as i would have thought lol but the club members seemed very impressed with our work, Ron an andy and in birkenhead and myself have been invited back in March next year to publicly exhibit our work, so a good opportunity for trying to get a club up and running on the wirral, iam sure Ron will fill you guys in on the rest thanks again.

                            Scott

                              Cheers, Scott.

Just a quick post to report on the 'Talk'.

There were around 15 people there when I arrived and Scott was being grilled in the hot seat. I bumbled in carrying my box of models, and offered my appologies. Because of this intrusion Scott was promptly forgotten (much to his relief. lol) The two of us sat down in a corner and the Chairman asked "Does anyone want to look at the models, if so do it now as I want to bring up an important item." A few came and had a quick look and asked polite questions, then all sat down.

The Chairman then asked if anyone would be interested in a fund raising event allowing the public to control their R/C boats. Not much response, as most of the members were reading the latest R/C mags.!

He did comment to us after, how he was getting a bit annoyed at the lack of attention!

Anyway, meeting over, a few more of the members came and had a look at the models and asked a couple of questions and were genuinely impressed...I thought there might have been a bit more interest from other members there, but not to worry.

But as Scott has posted, we have been invited back sometime in March and will have a big room of our own at the museum during a w/end, so if anyone here fancies it, P.M. Scott or myself later in the year when we might have a date for the event.

Also, we have both been invited to 'Drive' a 10ft fully scaled R.C. oil tanker ( which weighs 1 and a half tons) around the Boat Museum waters in October.

All in all, very nice, friendly people.

It was a great opportunity to meet Scott again (Sorry for being late) and to see his superb models close up and real!

                              Cheers,

                              Ron
