    Bedridden :(

I had a severe episode of back pain yesterday and into today.

It started yesterday afternoon, was in my shed swapping over the innards from my RC Tiger tank over to a new Taigen metal lower hull and I started to get this gnawing discomfort at the base of back, it slowly got worse so I packed in and turned the power off, locked up and managed to amble inside. I took some painkillers and my wife rubbed some gel into my back but it got that bad with the pain, it was now around my hips that I couldn't stand and my legs gave way. I tried to get the loo and couldn't couldn't even sit up on the edge of the bed. I was dosed up on pain meds and 75mg of Amitriptyline that I slept soundly.

I woke just before 6am needing the loo so I gingerly moved, hoping that the rest and painkillers had eased my back. No, the moment I tried to sit up it exploded in pain-luckily we have a bottle so I had to use that. At 6:30 my wife phoned 111 and a emergency responder arrive-in fact it was an ambulance and three paramedics-two very pretty ladies and a young lad-they were lovely and helped me and I ended up having a full bottle of gas and air. I had a choice-go to the hospital or the emergency docs-the paramedics got me down stairs and they sorted out the docs for me-got there and I am on high strength Co-codomal and Diazepam.

Back home and had some doses of these meds, slept this afternoon and then the pain woke me, had some more meds and it seems to be okay-ish at the moment.

Looks like I have tramped a nerve and the muscles are spasm-the pain was unbearable, I know it was bad when I just let my wife phone for medical help-if your like me most guys just hang on and hope it will get better.

So, no modelling for me for a few days-have been told not to go into my shed or start to do anything-fed up as I wanted the P-III and the Tiger finished for my boat club open day on the 10th

Take it easy Si , back pain is a horrible thing so you want yo make sure youve recovered fully before you start doing anything. If you cant get to the open day then so be it , your health comes first , therell be others. In the meantime you can rest up and think about what to do next in the shed  , take care mate cheers tony

Ta guys, I know my FM and arthritis cause me daily pain but have had a good few days and really enjoyed doing the RC tanks, painting etc. About right really, hopefully it will settle down in the next few days. Docs told me I am not allowed in the shed on my own in case my back goes again, so be it-they ain't going anywhere, it is just a pity as I was really getting stuck in and enjoying myself for a first time in ages. But, as you guys say-health comes first-not bits of plastic.

Nothing like a trapped nerve in the back to remind you you're alive.

I hope you get over it soon and are back on your feet again.

All the best Si, on Monday ring your doc and ask to be put on to Tramadol. That's what I take for my shoulder and its far better than Co-codamol, the only thing stronger is Morphene so you wont need Diazepan either ;-)

Health comes first mate.  Rest up and use that time for planning future projects.  Fighting it can just make the problem last longer.  Wishing you well....
