    Another newbie checks in

Thought I'd introduce myself. My stats are: name Darwin Grigg; age - 61; first scale model - solid wood Piper Cub (on floats, yet), approximately 1950; modeling interests - just about everything and in any medium, presently concentrating on ships in cardstock. That may change when I put in a few outbuildings for workshops and can get going on the lifetime's supply of kits I've been storing for retirement; occupation - nuclear plant engineer by training, presently working as an environmental chemist, waiting for the day in the near future I can be a full-time modeler; location - USA, specifically southeastern Idaho; ethnicity - Cornish/Welsch on paternal side, Scottish/Dutch on maternal side.

That's quite an interesting mix Darwin, there's a lot of Celtic blood in there!!

You are not the first one to mention a collection of models saved up for retirement. I think it must be a relatively common modellers dream to be able to concentrate all efforts on model building. I know it is mine and that's my excuse for the pile of boxes in the attic!!

I look forward to seeing some of the things you enjoy building.

Morning Darwin and a BIG welcome to the Forum, I hope you enjoy what you find on here, there are plenty of us like minded modellers on here so feel free to ask questions or put up useful hints, they are always welcome....pictures even more so...!!

Funnily enough I suddenly found a stack of uncompleted model kits in my dads shed the other day, he'd had a tidy up and on the bench was a pile of kits I'd forgotten about, the eldest being a 1/72 Airfix Lancaster kit which I have had since xmas 1978 !!!....now I know they are there I will get around to doing them, maybe over winter this year.

        Regards.......Mark.

Mark, I believe I have the same Airfix Lanc kit sitting out in my grain silo (long in service as storage room for models, Amiga computer parts, and my other good stuff, plus my wife's junk) rather than crops. I added a few pictures of a few of my projects.

              Howdy Darwin,

I wanted to come welcome you too, its really good to see more familiar faces, I really think you will like it here. Be sure and show off some of your cardmodel builds, the guys here are eager to see em.

Also be sure to look around the members galleries, there are some awesome builds in all of them, evrything from ships to RC models to static display and diaromas. Who knows maybe something will inspire you or you will inspire someone. Either way, someone wins.

              Again, welcome to the forum,

              Greg aka GEEDUBBYA (GW)
