          A cat is really a 3 dimensional shadow of a multidimensional creature, this explains how they can occupy a space which is completely disproportionate to the apparent size.

                I think that eloquently explains why when cooking I take a step back from the stove, only to find the cat has suddenly materialized in the very space my foot needs to occupy!  o.O
